*breathes* Okay. Wow. This is one of those fics that I read, then I read again, and I wish I'd have written it. It's just...incredible. Thank you so much for it. Every detail just makes perfect sense. It starts with pretenses and lies and somehow they make it into something sincere, and that's just beautiful. I love Kate's thoughts throughout, how she's analyzing everything as it relates to Jack and Sawyer (god, you even have Sawyer's voice down perfectly, in a fic that should make me just ache for him!) and the island and their pasts and futures. The little details like how she notices the colors of Sayid's skin are just...well, yummy, for lack of a better word. And I adore the references to their first hand-kiss (!!) and how they both probably have their old, trusty tank tops in their luggage beneath all their pretentious clothing, after all.
but in a life of pretenses, what’s one dinner? For some reason, that line grabbed me. Love it.
Thank you so much, dear. You could never tell you'd never written these two before, nor that they aren't a favorite pairing of yours. Thank you!
