Re: Hawaii Five-0; Steve/Danny, attention, part 2

No, make that any minute, Danny thinks, as he catches Steve watching him again. This time it’s after hours in their deserted office, and for once Steve doesn’t pretend. Instead he keeps looking, until it’s Danny who’s blushing, too hot and that itch between his shoulder blades making him fidget in his seat. He doesn’t look away either, because he’s not the kind of guy who backs down from a challenge and he’s not the kind of guy to run away from something just because it scares him more than he’s willing to admit and he’s definitely not the kind of guy will ignore something when it’s sucking up all the air in the room.

Steve walks across the darkened main office, leans his shoulder against the door frame, still holding Danny’s eyes. There’s a long minute of quiet and then he says, softly, “Hey, Danny.”

There’s a look in Steve’s eyes that Danny knows well, the one that says he’s done waiting, that his patience has run out, that there’s no use trying to talk any sense to the guy because he’s made up his mind and nothing in this world is going to keep him from achieving his objective.

Which, in this case, is apparently Danny.

Danny’s on his feet, didn’t even realize he’d moved, but he’s standing beside his desk, heart thumping, palms sweaty. “Hey.” He swallows hard, his voice not as steady as he’d have liked. Jesus, here it is, he thinks. They’re really going to do this. “What took you so long?”
