1. Hi world. <33 sorry for being scarce but I'm currently internet-less at my grandmother's village except for my mom's USB key that gets you on the internet, but I have to go from her computer and I can't stay more than half an hour each day, so I'm not checking the FL. Actually if there's something you posted that I should see leave me links? I'll catch up eventually, but since I'm not going back home until the 1st, it'll be long.

2. Meanwhile in the last four days I managed to finish two books I had started ages ago and I read another three and a half, I already need detox from all the crappy television my grandparents manage to watch and then I managed to completely burn my back at the seaside even if I was wearing a white shirt. The last bit is making me feel like my back was on fire. The first bit would be good but if I keep this rate I'll run out of books before I leave. The place is, however, more depressing with every passing year. I have enough confirms that I couldn't live in places far from cities. Or in places where there isn't a bookshop.

3. Also I missed a bunch of birthdays since I left, so, happy late birthday to [livejournal.com profile] halfdutch, [livejournal.com profile] timey_wimey_kid, [livejournal.com profile] flying_colours, [livejournal.com profile] zsavagebelle, [livejournal.com profile] scarletsherlock and [livejournal.com profile] whatsername_05! 7. That's all for now - I'm still hoping to put together that rec post someway before I leave again and the stuff I want to rec hasn't been posted for a month and more. And that I don't get thoroughly fried at the beach or by the completely out of this world hot weather meanwhile. *waves* ♥

janie_tangerine: (EPIC FAIL)
Then today I was linked this and... well, except for my PM's new declarations about Lybia and public school being full of evil teachers indoctrinating kids, this pretty much covers everything for which he should be made fun of. to be 100% truthful: the first time I watched it I laughed like crazy, then I watched it a second time and I wanted to cry from embarrassment (because if this is what people get of this country from the outside then it's really true that we lost all credibility). (PS: don't mind the Italian subs/title, it was the first I had on hand XD)

Be right back cursing the existence of this man and hoping that I don't have to wait another two years to vote.

1. Between yesterday and today, I think I can divide the last twenty-four hours in pro/cons:

Pros: I got recced. While on the bus yesterday because I was going to a friend's birthday dinner I had a moment of enlightenment re the three fic exchanges I signed up for. I decided which prompt I'm doing for the Lost Hohoho one (I was still undecided), I planned what was left of the crossover one and mostly I realized what I need to write for the Dean/Cas one. I didn't do the wordcount I needed for the bigbang #2 but I'm quite into it and I'm pretty sure I'll manage it in a couple of days. And next week I don't have one class at all, which is definitely a pro.

Cons: I didn't do the wordcount I needed (well, that's a con), my phone charger is still dead and I can't and won't spend another twenty-five euros on it since I had bought it two months ago, I went to bed at three AM (not that I complain, the birthday dinner was awesome) and now I kind of want to go to sleep but can't and worst thing, I didn't get the job. :// I'm kind of not quite pleased with it right now because they used a system where they gave you points based on the weighted average between grades and the relation between the credits you have at this point and the credits you should have by now given the year and the number of exams. And it ended up with at least seven people arriving before me who had a lower weighted average but a higher relation and at least six having a higher weighted average and a lower relation. Which means that if someone gave four exams in two years when he should have given ten but got the maximum on them all that person was above me anyway even if I'm at the third year and given way more exams even without having all maximums. And at least five people who got in were running late (I'm not, or not yet anyway) and I didn't get it for five places. Argh, I don't really want to whine about it but I could have really used some money. :// Whatever, if six people decide they don't want it after all then I guess I might still get in, but I really can't see it happening. *sigh* Ah, whatever. I'll see if I can find something else.

2. After I post this I'll go checking out some place doing yoga near here. Maybe I can start again since last year I had too much stuff on my hands and couldn't find the time to go where I did it before. And I'd probably benefit if I took it up again.

3. Memes! One from [livejournal.com profile] bold_seer, one from [livejournal.com profile] catoasapun.

a) 1. Reply to this post, and I will pick five of your icons.

b) - Reply to this meme by typing "I want in on this shit."
- I will then give you 3-5 words that remind me of you.
- Then post them in your LJ and explain what they mean to you.

Warning: this is long. And I rambled. And if you like my current PM, I strongly advise to skip the last word.

I got Good Omens, Ian Somerhalder, George Orwell, Bruce Springsteen, Italy. )

4. And then today I came home and... new Misha promo pic from S5. Can that man be any more... *dies* I just think that it's kind of not exactly representative because I've never seen Cas wearing those clothes, not that I'd mind if he did wear them. Not that I care. Aw, Misha, thanks for sort of making my days nicer by being so lovely yourself.

5. Christmas cards post is here, if anyone else would like one? ;)

6. Okay, I think I'm pretty much done also because I rambled more than I had thought I would. O_o I'll be out checking out that yoga thing and then I'll get back to writing. And also editing the other bigbang. If I manage to read something at the gym then I can put all of that in the pros. *waves*

janie_tangerine: (GET OFF MY LAWN)
*sigh* Feel free to skip, this is just me headdesking.

So, thing is, I have two computers. The one I have at home, and the laptop, which is supposed to be like new even if it's an old model.

I've had the one at home since I was fifteen and these are not its better days. Mostly, it's not exactly slow but it tends to get stuck a lot of times and I can't open Photoshop and the internet at the same time, to say one. Which is also why I'm behind on PS stuff, but anyway. So, lately, since opening Word is becoming a pain too, I had just started to write fic directly on the laptop and then post it from the other one since I didn't really have to do much in Word. So today I finish the first draft of one thing which has been going on since two months and I was almost done with the other dreaded thing which I didn't like. So I open it this evening to write a couple of ficlets and revision the other one.

Suddenly it turns off on its own. I open it again and it says that it can't locate the operating system. And I don't even have the cd because it was from my mother's office and it didn't come with the package. I tried to make the thing work again for one hour but no luck. Which means, if the operating system is busted, I don't know if I can recover what was on there. Fine, I have most of what I had there on here too, but I still needed to pass those other two. *headdesk* That was not what I needed. *headdesk again* Ah well, tomorrow I'm asking at some computer shop near here but really, wft? I can't believe this one I'm using now had been working for six years and that one who was used once before I started using it in November is already gone once. Not what I needed and not on a Monday indeed. *sigh* I really need to start taking better care of this one.

1. Okay, so, today I was supposed to have the first exam of the term and yay, too many people so I'm tomorrow morning. I'd have rather used today to sleep it off and spend tomorrow doing nothing and then start studying for the next one on Friday but I guess I'll renounce the sleeping-today-off part. Clearly I'll be later than usual with Lost but still, at least I've managed to hear another exam and it looks better than I feared. I guess tomorrow I'll be less nervous which isn't a bad thing at all. Even if I could have used sleeping today off but whatever, after all it's common practice. Ah well, so it goes. I'll be having a couple cups of coffee and get back on it. *sigh*

2. Just for the lulz, Sugarland (-> country group which I only know because the singer made a duet on a Bon Jovi record ages ago and isn't actually that bad if you accept the premise that it's country music without any purpose to be more than entertaining) have a song on their last record called Steve Earle. Which is indeed about Steve Earle. I probably find it more amusing than it actually is but still.

3. I know I have some comments to catch up with. I'll be doing it tonight or tomorrow when point 1 is said and done.

4. Goes unsaid that I didn't watch Heroes, even if I have it downloaded. If it was Lost I'd have probably said who cares, but as things are right now I'll be catching up with it tomorrow or this weekend. Anyone who saw it could tell me how it was? Good, bad, downright bad, downright hilarious, back at S1 levels (I doubt it)? I know I'll be watching it eventually, but I avoided reviews and they looked decent, so...

5. Okay, getting back on studying. *sigh*

No, I'm not quoting High Fidelity because I've re-read it. ;) anyway, random post as usual.

1. Well, it's just that a record store near here which wasn't exactly the place where you find stuff but which brought you anything if you ordered it (and seriously, they got me some stuff from South Korea or something once) and whose owner was a really nice guy and where I kind of spent one year and a half because of said ordering records business is closing down. I found out this morning and it kind of made me want to headdesk because practically every place I go for used/rare records is closing/has closed in the last two years. Sucks. Now I don't even know if I want to go there on Monday or something because he's selling everything on sale. I hate sales at record shops when they close. *sigh*

2. To cheer me up, meme from [livejournal.com profile] wandersfound. Since I said I was game.. ;)

The first six people to everyone that responds to this post will get something made by me. It will be about or tailored to those six who respond first who responded. (don't mind this, I probably could do more than six. Just go ahead if you wish.)

This offer does have some restrictions and limitations:
- I make no guarantees that you will like what I make.
- What I create will be just for you.
- It'll be done this year.
- You have no clue what it's going to be. It may be a mix tape. It may be fic, or a poem. I may draw or paint something. I might bake you something and mail it to you. Who knows? Not you, that's for sure!
- I reserve the right to do something extremely strange (you really should be worried at this point).

The catch? Oh, the catch is that you have to put this in your journal as well, if you expect me to do something for you! -> just if you want. ;)

3. I think my Jack/Sawyer muse decided to work again. Well, I have an idea on how to ditch the plot part of that series I'm stuck on and just go another route. I'll see soon-ish.

4. Goodwin is on the most popular Italian crosswords magazine! Premise: there's this weekly magazine called something like Puzzles Week even if I don't exactly like the translation which is full of rebuses, crosswords, blank crosswords and stuff like that and on the cover they have an easy crossword and a celebrity's picture which changes every week. They had Matthew Fox, Josh Holloway and Evangeline Lilly before, but this week there was the guy playing Goodwin! Or Riggins senior, how you prefer. Which is kind of hilarious because seriously, doing a crossword while staring at the guy's face? Weird. And I'd like to know how can they think someone would recognize him since Lost's ratings have to be pretty low since no one I know watches it and they air it in the summer and Friday Night Lights is barely on cable.

5. Lost in three days! Seriously, I can't believe it's over. The hiatus was so long that now that it's almost there I can't quite get it. And re Lost, the fic battle at [livejournal.com profile] lostsquee is being seriously awesome. And tonight I'm definitely coming up with the way to write tentacle sex. -nods-

6. So Bruce Springsteen's new record leaked and I listened to it already. The song-by-song review is coming as soon as I can do it also for John Frusciante's new one. And uhm, guess all for now.

Oh, God. Oh, God. I'm sorry. I know I swore not to talk politics ever again, but I need to share my frustration.

My PM on the international relations between Russia and USA now that Obama was elected. )

In better news:

14516 / 50000 words. 29% done!

See, being sick is useful at something. And God, I'm not even at a quarter of what I want to do in that story.
