is this even a real post? APPARENTLY IT IS.

Eee, this is a real post! I'm almost shocked myself.

1. Okay, I'm almost shocked myself, but this last week has been... the busiest since September or so? In order, I: did the extra exam, covered shifts for other people at the library, lost hours in order to hand over the last paper that was lacking from all the graduation forms, lost a bunch of time searching bibliographies for stuff to use in my thesis (which ended up being mostly useless), talked with my supervisor and I still need to start writing said thesis. At least it's just forty pages. *sigh* Moral of the story: I spent the weekend sleeping, mostly, and the only thing I managed to do was post a fic I had a deadline for. *sigh* So if I owe any comments or e-mails I'll see to do it all tonight/tomorrow morning since I have it free.

2. Also happy Halloween to anyone doing it? (I don't, but it's not like anyone I know does it either or like it's a big thing here, so. It sounds... very much like I don't like to have fun, but I just want one evening to catch up. XD)

3. In much better news: Bon Jovi are touring, which is nothing new, BUT THERE'S AN ITALIAN DATE, which is, instead, a miracle. Or at least, they hadn't had one in... ten years. Or so. Which means, I'M ATTENDING A BON JOVI CONCERT. Which probably wouldn't request capslock, but dammit I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR TEN YEARS TO GET ONE not needing to get out of the country.

Clearly it's in a city which is exactly near to the border both with Austria and Slovenia which means I'll need to spend ten hours on a train or two, BUT WHO CARES.

4. In as good news: I had bought a ticket to go see The Promise at the Rome film festival tomorrow. It also was the last ticket. Then Friday they announced that Bruce Springsteen was attending THAT screening.

Meaning: TOMORROW I'M SEEING BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN. And I paid exactly 6.50 euros for it. I've been gleeing non-stop since I heard it. \o/ Also before The Promise I'm seeing in the same hall a movie named The People Vs. George Lucas, which is apparently made of interviews to Star Wars fans who hated the prequels. I'm strangely excited for it, or at least I'm excited because I want to have some fun.

5. I also signed up for [livejournal.com profile] mini_nanowrimo, with the intent of using it for both my thesis and the bunch of fics I need to finish. Except that I had forgotten that I'll be out of town for two days and idk how I'm going to report to them. I need to check the rules again.

6. Also since I am done with bureaucracy, I should also catch up on both Hawaii 5-0 and Boardwalk Empire. This last one will kill me, since I haven't seen anything beyond episode two and it's one hour long, but damn I loved it so much, I don't want to wait for the season to be over to catch up.

7. Also I'm attempting to read some goddamn fiction again because I've been reading just school stuff for one month, so expect some book recs post in a week or so. But for now I can totally say that Margaret Atwood's Oryx and Crake is probably the best thing not written by Kafka which I read this year. I'm still gushing over how good it was. I'll probably rant about it more extensively in the future.

8. My PM becomes worse with every passing day. Except that this time there's a girl named Ruby (okay, it's not her real name, but still) involved in the whole mess and every time I hear 'the Ruby affair' on the TV or on newspapers I have laughing fits instead of feeling depressed. I'm at the point when I think it's actually a good thing. :/

9. Uhm, that's probably everything, Rl-wise. I'll probably post again soon-ish with Bruce pictures if I manage to take some. :D and now I'll be off catching up with things, which I'll do also tomorrow morning. How glad I am that November 1st is national vacation here. Let's see if I can manage to be caught up before the 2nd.

10. ETA: and I'm an idiot, since I started the post wanting to say this and I forgot, but happy birthday [livejournal.com profile] carmexgirl and [livejournal.com profile] thespiansparkle! :DDD I hope you both have awesome days (had, by now), and if either of you wants to prompt me or something I'll see what I can do. :D

Congrats on getting to see both Bon Jovi and Bruce Springsteen! Very cool!

I hope your Thesis goes OK. Those seem to cause a lot of stress.

[identity profile] janie-tangerine.livejournal.com 2010-10-31 09:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you! :D I've already managed to catch Bruce live, but never BJ. And I'm so excited for it. :DD

And thanks re that too. God, it's stressful, yes, but the problem is that here you need to take both bachelor and masters, and this is just the first. It already feels like too much work.

[identity profile] elliotsmelliot.livejournal.com 2010-10-31 09:42 pm (UTC)(link)
You always get the best concerts! Enjoy Bruce tomorrow and presumably BJ very soon! That George Lucas movies sounds great. Let me know if it is worth watching.

Good luck with your thesis. What is the topic?

If you are such a big fan of C & C, then The Year of the Flood is probably worth checking out just for the references.

[identity profile] janie-tangerine.livejournal.com 2010-10-31 09:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, Bruce is not a concert since he's talking about a documentary about a record of his, but hey, I get to see his face. ;) BJ is on July 17th so I have time for that, but I'm getting tickets now just to be extremely sure.

The topic would be... Kant and Lucretius. Mostly. If I manage to come up with something in spite of the lack of people writing on the topic, I might throw in some other ancient philosopher.

I think I just like my dystopian novels too much, but I really loved it to pieces. I don't know if it's because it basically had all my favorite dystopia clichés in one place and done well, but I just couldn't put that down. I'll probably give Year Of The Flood a check out as soon as I'm done with another couple things I should have finished a looong time ago.

[identity profile] invisiblelove.livejournal.com 2010-11-01 02:29 am (UTC)(link)
Yay! So glad you get to see Bruce Springsteen! Fandom concerts are the best :D Have an AWESOME time!!!

[identity profile] janie-tangerine.livejournal.com 2010-11-01 11:25 am (UTC)(link)
I'm just hoping he'll sit down to sign something because I'll never get another occasion to see his face which isn't a huge-ass concert where you don't exactly get to meet the guy. *crosses fingers* And even if he doesn't I'LL HAVE SEEN BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN FOR SIX EUROS. ;) I hope I will!

[identity profile] galain-7.livejournal.com 2010-11-01 08:54 am (UTC)(link)
every time I hear 'the Ruby affair' on the TV or on newspapers I have laughing fits

Yeah, me too. First time that happened with Italian politics. But seriously, the Ruby affair *snickers*

And YAY for Bon Jovi and Bruce Springsteen, bb!

[identity profile] janie-tangerine.livejournal.com 2010-11-01 11:30 am (UTC)(link)
... at least we're not JUST depressed? I mean, I'm depressed anyway, but at least it has some amusement factor. Right? The Ruby affair, seriously. *snorts forever* I'd snort even more if it ends up being the reason B. has to resign. xDDDD

YAY INDEED! :DDD

[identity profile] galain-7.livejournal.com 2010-11-01 12:50 pm (UTC)(link)
I'd snort even more if it ends up being the reason B. has to resign.

That would be EPIC. I wouldn't stop chuckling for ages.

[identity profile] janie-tangerine.livejournal.com 2010-11-01 02:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Me too! God, I so want it to happen.

[identity profile] ladymacbeth77.livejournal.com 2010-11-01 11:49 am (UTC)(link)
OMG!
Bon Jovi e Bruce?! INVIDIAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!
Poi voglio sapere tutto, bella :*

[identity profile] janie-tangerine.livejournal.com 2010-11-01 12:03 pm (UTC)(link)

[identity profile] janie-tangerine.livejournal.com 2010-11-01 12:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Il dieci va benissimo, tanto c'è mia madre che lavora e io ho la mattina libera :DDD allora poi ti faccio sapere appena ho dettagli. :DD

[identity profile] ladymacbeth77.livejournal.com 2010-11-01 01:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Ok ♥

[identity profile] lexhibition.livejournal.com 2010-11-01 12:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh goooooosh Oryx and Crake isn't it MAGNIFICENT? It was the first Margaret Atwood I ever read and it's probably one of my favourite stories ever. So many feelings.

[identity profile] janie-tangerine.livejournal.com 2010-11-01 12:36 pm (UTC)(link)
MAGNIFICENT IS THE WORD FOR IT. I loved it so much, I hadn't devoured a book like I devoured that one in ages. It's just, ALL that I like in dystopias. (Also Jimmy might be my favorite Atwood character until now, but he just grabbed me so.) And INDEED SO MANY FEEEELIINGS also god the ending made me go so O_____O seriously. (And I went like IT CAN'T END LIKE THIS but I get it. Sort of.)

[identity profile] gottalovev.livejournal.com 2010-11-01 01:39 pm (UTC)(link)
BRUUUUCE!

I hope you get to talk to him! and yay for a Bon Jovi concert in your future!

[identity profile] janie-tangerine.livejournal.com 2010-11-01 01:55 pm (UTC)(link)
I hope so too! Or at least to, idk, get something signed. Or anything really. If not I'll just gaze adoringly upon his lovely self. ;) And YAY INDEED for the BJ concert. It was like, my #1 item on the bucket list by now. XD

[identity profile] mollivanders.livejournal.com 2010-11-05 03:00 am (UTC)(link)
Is the Ruby affair a SPN reference? :p I might start watching it this Christmas break. Ish.

BON JOVI! You need to give yourself a break - you deserve it <3

[identity profile] janie-tangerine.livejournal.com 2010-11-05 09:39 am (UTC)(link)
Well, for me it is. :P but if you watched the show and you actually know who Ruby is in there and then think about how's the Ruby affair here.. you can't stop snorting. Which for once is a nice change. (AND YES DO WATCH IT!)

BJ = YESSS. Also lol yes I need that. After I graduate. ;) ;) But if I think that I have two months for myself after then.. *hangs on* XD
