The scene before Kima gets shot was so tense. You just knew something bad was going to happen in that car. Bubbles just takes a piece of your heart and never lets go. Keep going it just get better (and worse - sniff).
Not your favorite book but the one you hated most reading?
This is a tough one. I can’t jog my memory by looking at my bookshelf because the offender would not be there. I’m also one to stop reading any book that I don’t really like. Last week I gave up on the Yiddish Policemen’s Union by Michael Chabon. I just couldn’t get into his writing this time even though I loved the Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay. After many a friend recommended The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho, I read it and pretty much hated it. It reminded me of 1001 Arabian Nights crossed with a self help book. It seemed so obvious. In history I hated the book Timber Colony about the forestry industry in New Brunswick. I should keep it by my beside to read when I can’t sleep because ZZZZZ, see it makes me sleepy just by talking about it.
What's your favorite Simon and Garfunkel song?
I’m a bit of a cliché. It’s the version of Bridge Over Troubled Water from their Concert in Central Park. I am also really found of The Boxer from that same album. Then there is Flowers Never Bend in the Rainfall. Lately that one has reminded me of post-Oceanic 6 Sayid.
Who did you root for in Blade Runner?
Well, I ultimately wanted Decker to win, but on my most recent viewing, I was most sympathetic to the toymaker. He just seemed to be from another world and I wanted to protect him. This might have to do with really liking the same actor’s similarly pitiful character on Deadwood. (When you are finished with The Wire, I would suggest to downloading Deadwood.)
What's your favorite historical era to study/read about?
To study, my favourite era is the World War II and postwar era. The world was completely changed by the war, at least for the next three decades and there is so much to analyse and understand. Plus as a researcher, most people used typewriters by then which is great because I hate deciphering hand written memos and correspondence! In terms of reading fiction or watching movies/documentaries, I’m pretty curious about every other historical period, though I’m not a big fan of the history of the British Monarchy at any time.
Polar bear, wild boars, four-toed statues or the Smokey? Pick one ;)
I'm so meh about any of these mysteries. I really care more about the human characters but I will go with Polar Bears because I think they were used in time travel experiments and that breaks my heart. Unless Richard turns out to have 4 toes, I really couldn’t care less about the statue. The boars are only interesting when they are stalking Sawyer. Smokey ended up on my bad list when he killed Eko but not Keamy.
Completely off topic by I just read a rumour here that Eko was supposed to get the flashes/constant storyline but Darlton knew AAA was going to leave by the end of season 3 and brought Desmond back. If it didn’t mean giving up Desmond, I think that would have been really interesting. I loved Mr. Eko. He and Locke were my favourites in season 2. I wonder if Eko would have had a long lost love or would Yemi have been his constant.
