1. So yesterday LJ didn't let me answer to any comment if my answer was longer than five lines in the comment box. *facepalm* Dear LJ, are you letting me catch up at some point? Thanks, me. My icon represents what I'd like to do if I could meet those hackers, though tbh I'm also using it because it's gorgeous.

2. Porn battle started. I've been spending the last three hours writing random ASOIAF fills just to see if I have a handle on the characters. I feel like I'm doing something wrong because they lack rolling heads and utter angst, though a couple I've been eyeing are good for angstfesting. Right now I have a couple for both my main ships, let's see if this evening I like them enough to post them.. also why the heck I'm eyeing Theon/Robb prompts, I DON'T EVEN SHIP THAT

3. Let's give that meme a boost.

four books. which is good. )

4. I didn't need a reminder of how awesome Misha Collins is, but this is so great that I can't even. That man has no right to be real. Stop ruining men for me, Misha. Except.. no, keep on doing it. I'll get over it and I can bask in your awesomeness.

5. Sometime this week I will upload the Bon Jovi concert pics. And Slash's concert pics (or: at least Janie scored two good ones this month).

6. Sirens ends today. Hear me weeping. Also, I decided I'm watching GoT while at my grandmother's in the second part of the month - I'll be internet-less and bored out of my mind, so at least I'll be entertained.

7. That stated, I'll go ponder on my fills and answering the backload of comments that I had to ignore for the entire week courtesy of Russian hackers. *glares and waves*

Hi, LJ, I hope you're back. Also please work properly for me, PLEASE.

Anyway: dearest hackers who decided to fuck with free speech in Russia, thanks for making me lose sleep I didn't need to lose/turn a thing that'd have taken twenty minutes at most into something that took... about ten hours? By the way, I'm so confused by this thing that I can't even.

The facts: yesterday was my day for posting my [livejournal.com profile] spn_j2_bigbang story. And all right. I go to my computer at 10 AM, do my neat notebook files with the A/N and the header and shit, do the PDF and then try posting. I get 500 internal server errors. I try until lunch time. I keep getting server errors. I give up on LJ and try to use Semagic - it posted one of the side-posts, but nothing of the story. And it started giving me server errors too. At five PM I give it up and head out since I had a concert, figuring that five hours would be enough for LJ to fix itself, would they.

Cue to: I get back home at one AM. I keep getting internal server errors. At some point I switch from desktop to netbook and while LJ still didn't work, Semagic apparently did and I managed to post the story and cross-post it to the main comm. I'm done at two-something AM. Then I try to catch up on some comments, and half an hour later I get told that one of the parts doesn't work. I go there - it doesn't load. I go on edit entry - the entire chapter is actually THERE. I try to copy/paste it from the document and see if it works - guess what? Internal server error. I try to break it up in two and use Semagic both for doing a new entry and the two separate entries - nothing except the stupid 500 server error. At that point I try to see if I can edit the masterpost at least - turns out that I can. So I go and post the incriminated chapter on Dreamwidth and edit the links temporarily - and crash into bed at four-something AM. Today, after oversleeping like nothing else, I get back on LJ. Same thing, 500 errors included. I give it up and get lunch. Then I get back to the incriminated post now. IT ACTUALLY LOADS. With the entire content. But I had messed the html for the link to the epilogue and I had forgotten to close a tag, so I figure I can try to fix it since now it works, right?

I get internal server error. *facepalm* I guess I can ignore it a couple hours longer, but I was hoping not to have one fifth of a story on DW when the rest is all on LJ when crossposting. Also because you can't get on the DW link from part III (I can't edit that one either because of 500 errors) but only from the master post.

Really, I don't blame LJ a bit, but I'm about ready to give up on understanding what the hell is up. Though really, never been so happy that I have that back up DW account. *glares at hackers*

Brb trying to fix it again. And at least it isn't as long as last year's because otherwise it'd have meant more parts and I'd still be at stage one.

I'm not starting the fourth now though. I have an exam on the 11th and I really can't afford it. But it makes me lol that if I hadn't had that exam I'd have finished just in time for the fifth book to be out. Anyway. Spoilers.

my main comment it's wtf )

... I don't even know. These books are like drugs.

[premise: the only thing getting seriously hurt was thankfully the other guy's car. Well, it was his fault, but still. Everyone got out of it without hurting themselves, at least.]

You know when you start the day and you get the feeling it's going to utterly suck? Well, that was today. Or at least, that's what I thought when I got into the post office and the machine giving numbers was broken, and it was just a long, huge line. Anyway, I was supposed to run some errands with my mom and so I called her after I was done working in the library, and I was like, 'do I get to your workplace?' and she, 'well, take the car so we can do this and that', and I was like 'do I really have to?', but then I realized she had a point so I was like fine, let's take the car.

Then before getting out of the house to go, I though that dammit, I really didn't feel like driving or using the car. Next time I'm taking the goddamn bus.

cut because it gets longer. )

Okay. Just one thing. I always think that this country can't possibly get worse, and then it does. And I can't even rant because seven hours of Heidegger are enough for my patience. And I usually cut politics related post but this time I'd rather not.

This evening, I am watching a couple of newscasts on tv. In the least important one, they gave two piece of news.

The magic octopus predicting the World Cup results was aired before this small, insignificant piece of news which I'm sure everyone in this country could do without.

Best thing, though? Same thing in the main newscast. Actually, I don't think that they talked about news number two. And yesterday they said that at that demonstrations there were one hundred people.

Uhm. That's good information, isn't it? How am I not surprised that meanwhile this is going on, too?

I don't think I need any further comments. Also I'd really like to know if this happens also in other countries, but I suspect the answer would be no. Freedom of information/press, I'm sure that you're awesome, but I am starting to suspect that we never really knew each other that well.

That said, I'm off with Kant because I need to read something I actually understand and to see if I can whip something up for the luau because I already fell behind. Thank fuck my last final is on Monday and then I can stop cramming. /rant

Reposting from at least three people on my FL, whom I should thank for posting in the first place because of course this didn't make the news here, or not that I know of.

You know when you read stuff that makes you lose a good deal of faith in humanity?

Sonoma County CA separates elderly gay couple and sells their home, possessions.

I positively teared up while reading it. Seriously, this is the 21st century, but I guess it isn't enough. And I know that it has been posted a bunch of times already but the more you see it around, the best it is. Also, here is a petition for the story to be printed in what I think is the county's Democratic paper? I'd say consider signing it if you haven't already. Jesus. At least reading the comments on that page makes you partly re-gain the faith in humanity you lost while reading the article, but still, it's insane.

I saw this at [livejournal.com profile] gottalovev's and I figured I'd try it. Not like I haven't written most of these during pedagogy class and not like it isn't the crackiest crack that ever cracked except when I ended up writing serious angst but whatever. Also, 15 words? HARD.

1. Write down the names of 10 characters.
2. Write a fic of fifteen words or less for every prompt, using the characters determined by the numbers. Do NOT read the prompts before you do step 1.

1. Boone Carlyle (Lost)
2. Castiel (Supernatural)
3. Eddie Dean (Dark Tower series)
4. Sayid Jarrah (Lost)
5. Roland Deschain (Dark Tower series)
6. Dean Winchester (Supernatural)
7. Crowley (Good Omens)
8. Nathan Petrelli (Heroes)
9. Mal Reynolds (Firefly)
10. Rorschach (Watchmen)

craziness underneath )

Seriously. What. I'll go edit stuff. And write stuff. And maybe I'll do a real entry tonight since I have Steve Earle squee to share.

So. This morning I come home and since I knew that this week's Heroes was where the dreadful thing happened I figured I'd download it and watch it before trying to finish the crossover fic. Which I really should do.

Then, ten minutes in, someone from the uni's library calls and seems like some people renounced and I GOT THE JOB! *raises fist* When she was like 'would you accept that?' I was like 'ARE YOU KIDDING OF COURSE I DO' and just, YES. I'M MAKING SOME MONEY, DAMMIT.

Then I actually did start to try and pay attention to the darned thing. Er. I'm pretty sure that [livejournal.com profile] missy_useless has seen it or is going to. Uh, I need my pieces picked up. You too? *sigh* Or anyone else?

cut for obvious spoilers. If you like Sylar I strongly advise you NOT to read this. )

Okay. I have stuff to edit and a fic to finish today (which is mandatory given my deadlines) so uh, I'll be off doing that. And going out around the house thinking that I have a job. *raises fist again*

So I basically wanted to post a long entry after watching my favorite tv program. ... and during the program they linked this and I realized that I'm not in the frame of mind to write a long-ass entry, so see you with that tomorrow and get this instead.

Next time I hear that the current government does wonders for this country's image, I'm showing this and then I want them to say that again. Argh. I don't want to be ashamed because of that idiot, but I kind of am. Argh. Argh. Argh.
