What I love most, on an immediate level, is that I'm so totally torn if I should use my Des/Pen icon, or if I go for the Bruce. That's easily one of the best decisions for anyone to have to make, knowing that either is equally appropriate for an absolutely phenomenal fic.
So it should come as no shock to you that the structure of this made me squee and giggle a lot before I could even have a chance to take it in--absolutely inspired! What an appropriate and awesome way to lay out their story, and you really picked a pretty amazing album. I loved the way you worked it out of order--each piece fit its song beautifully, and each individual piece by itself was so wonderfully striking. And then you looked at the whole...amazing. (And if it DID, by chance, take a trip to Sap Land? I am the LAST one to object. Though I don't think it stayed there too long.)
I loved the way all of the different relationships unfolded here, the way each song fit its couple, and just the way Des & Penny weave so nicely among them. Penny's father being there was a surprising but lovely touch--I love to think that maybe, just maybe, he does love her enough that he could be there for her, that he could love and accept what she'd chosen. And Penny tripping on her dress--well, I'm selfish, and I admit I liked that bit because it's just something I would do. Almost did, at my wedding. Stepped all up in my dress.
I didn't thank you when you wrote this, and I can't apologize enough for that, so I'm hoping to make up for it now by just saying thank you with all my heart. It was an absolutely fantastic wedding gift and it remains a piece of fic that will make its way straight to my favorites list. Thank you, thank you, thank you, darling.
