Glad you liked the Shannon recasting, I kinda didn't try to think an alternative for her actually. ;) ;) It just seemed so perfect for her. And yeah, her and Sawyer go so nicely together when you take it for what it is.
Re Sawyer not being a racist... mmh, did you read the prequel to this one where I had the whole of his backstory (I Ain't Got No Home I mean)? It has mostly to do with it but anyway, first thing of all Sawyer in canon doesn't give me much the racist impression (I mean, apart from that thing with Sayid in the first three episodes or so, but if he really was he wouldn't have grown to respect Sayid as it seemed to me in S3 and he'd have been way less friendly towards Michael). That said, here before doing the whole musician business I had him picking cotton in Tennessee and when you do such a thing presumably with black people even if you were racist before I think you'd change idea. ;) Also, most of the folk music singers I know from which I half drew inspiration to re-cast him were/are on pretty progressive positions and I was trying to keep that spirit. Oh, and I forgot that at one point I had him singing blues and I couldn't have him being racist if he did. ;)
