the random post - spring LJ cleaning edition

1. So, yesterday my computer scared the hell out of me because it went and crashed on its own. I mean shut down. Which I've been dreading since some time considering that I've had it since I was fifteen. Then I realized that lately I had completely forgot to clean it and so after spending the morning opening the whole HD and cleaning everything I put somewhat it back together and it started again. *phew* But oh, did I get scared.

2. Yahoo is being an idiot. Because I get the message with the e-mail notifications but when I try to go on the e-mail the site won't load. Which means that if I'm not answering comments I can't access my e-mail and can't exactly check where I was answered out of guessing. *shoots Yahoo* I wish I managed to use Outlook. I clearly fail at some basic technology.

3. New layout (partially, I kept the header) and new profile layout, too. I've also cleaned the profile up and put all the banners in one post only so that it doesn't clutter too much. I've also finally put the master fic list on par since I hadn't touched it in months. I still need to change some icons around and fix stuff in the layout but I'm liking the whole thing so far.

Also, I ended up not cutting anyone of the infamous I-don't-have-the-basic-idea-of-who-you-are group, but I don't know if I'll end up doing it anyway sometime soon. Uhm, for the tenth time, if you friended me and we didn't talk/I didn't add you back, talk to me? *sigh*

4. Tomorrow = the twelve hours' at school day. Shoot me. I hate Tuesdays already.

5. When I'm done, I'll probably spam you again with the remaining of the battle ficlets of January. So that you know. ;)

6. Dear my muse, why don't you cooperate and let me finish the fourteen stories I need to finish instead of hitting me with weird AU plots? Thanks, no love, me.

(Explanation: I was at the grocery shop with my mp3 on random, Born In The USA started and I suddenly decided that a story with Sawyer as a former soldier in Vietnam would have been a good AU. I clearly don't need such a thing to add to the load of fic I should finish.)

7. That's be all for now. *waves and hopes that Yahoo comes back to sanity*

My mother borrowed my laptop on Friday and sent me a frantic message telling me it had just switched itself off randomly for no reason. I've only had it since October so panicked for a while before she explained what had actually happened.

Turned out it was only Vista offering more updates and she hadn't realised she could postpone them so it just restarted automatically to install them.

Bloody Vista.

God, I am SO thankful I don't have Vista. I'd go crazy! Though really, I can get that you freaked out. It's new, shutting it off on its own would have been kind of crap.

Yeah, for now it is! I just hope it keeps on the good work. ;)

When I still had my old laptop, towards the tail end of its days it would sometimes do that for what seemed to be no reason (I eventually worked out the battery was crap and while it was plugged in to charge, Old Laptop thought the battery was flat.)

Still I'd had the thing since 2002, and its previous owner bought it in 2000, so to last until October of last year meant it had a good life!

I wasn't saying that though the day it munched "The Five Greatest Regrets of Sayid Jarrah".

Would have been so annoyed if there was a real problem (can't post O6 Boone from my mobile easily!)

Ouch, when they die and eat fic is horrible. Actually it reminds me I have to bring unfinished fic in the external HD, at least if it crashes I don't lose anything. And wow, eight years is a lot!

1) Ouch!!! I'm glad at the end it was just that and the computer worked again. But I'd have been scared to hell, too. When my computer doesn't work or does some kind of weird thing, i always feel like crying. I feel so miserable and helpless when it comes to my internet addiction!

2) I've been having problems with Yahoo lately too :(

God, I also have a laptop which works but I can't manage to get it on the internet from home so if this one died it'd be quite the problem. Thankfully it worked out okay. And at least I'm not the only one with Yahoo problems, I was thinking it was hating me or something. ;)

I'm sorry to hear about your computer woes. I think I need to wipe my hardrive soon and reinstall everything. It's been so clunky lately. Hopefully Yahoo cooperates soon!

Oh my goodness, computer troubles can cause SO much stress. I'm glad it sounds like everything turned out alright. I definitely have a love/hate relationship with technology ;)

Booooooooo 12 hours at school. Having zillions of things scheduled one after the other sucks so much :( Good luck with everything!

Seriously, it completely scared the hell out of me. True, it was also my fault because I should have remembered to clean it in the first place but it still wasn't nice. And thankfully I know where to put my hands at least.

12 hours is horrible. I have a two-hour break but then I have practically eight hours non-stop and it should be stuff requiring a clear head. Yes, of course *rolls eyes*.

Eh, a quanto pare... vabbe' che ce ne stava TANTA e che ad un certo punto ho dovuto usare un miniaspirapolvere perchè altrimenti non andava via ma davvero, prima si è spento, ho fatto tutto il lavoro e poi è ripartito.. mah, misteri della tecnologia O_O'' Certo col portatile è più complicata, quello effettivamente non è che si possa aprire, a parte che io ho uno scassatissimo Windows, i Mac dovrebbero funzionare meglio. XDD

Yep, it was like half an hour ago. I don't know how I'm going to keep this madness up until May but if it wasn't for one class at 8.30 in the morning it's be almost bearable. It's getting up at seven that kills me.

And I had wanted to do the spring cleaning too for a while, thankfully now I've half managed. And ha, I hadn't updated the list and stuff in three months. Time indeed!
