While writing this I had a playlist which was obsessively listened to and I figured I could just put it here as a sort of bonus. It's all Morricone anyway - I just went and made my own soundtrack, though it was mostly movies I, uhm, took inspiration from. I translated the original title tracks in English - I don't know if they would match if you were to search for the tracks on Amazon. ;)
- Man with a Harmonica [from Once Upon a Time in the West]
- Farewell to Cheyenne [from Once Upon a Time in the West]
- For a Few Dollars More [theme - movie has the same title]
- The Good, the Bad and the Ugly [same thing as previous track]
- Titles [from A Fistful of Dollars]
- The Great Silence [theme - movie has the same title
- Almost Dead [from A Fistful of Dollars]
- The Ecstasy of Gold [from The Good, the Bad and the Ugly]
- The Arena [from The Mercenary]
- Even more sweetly [from The Great Silence]
zip!

First: many thanks to
zelda_zee for doing a stellar job beta-ing this and totally saved me from a number of ESL failures (and pacing failures and generally language-related potential disasers). And please go look at the art
hrymfaxe made for this story because it's nothing short of gorgeous and I can't just stop looking at that post. Working with her was a total and absolute pleasure and I'm still in awe over the result. ♥ and also thanks to the mods at
spn_j2_bigbang for all the work they do running this.
No thanks at all to whoever decided to hack LJ this week and has made me spend pretty much the entire day trying to put this up.
Second, or, credit where it's due: the main plot is a mash-up of A Fistful of Dollars and For a Few Dollars More, but they're not the only ones referenced someway in this (I should probably add Pale Rider and Unforgiven - let's say I went and tried to put together a spaghetti extravaganza where nothing that's expected of the genre was missing. Or at least the Very Important Tropes). The title is more-or-less stolen from the only movie Marlon Brando directed, more-or-less in the sense that I took the Italian version of the title and re-translated it in English (the original was One-Eyed Jacks, which isn't exactly the same thing, but the Italian title worked better for what I needed). I thought I just stole the title from that and the I realized later that something that happened in that movie happens in the fic, too, but that one was coincidental. But the overall result should, uh, not resemble any of the originals too closely.
Third: anon commenting is enabled (though it'll screen them - sorry, it's for spam reasons, but I'll unscreen them answering) and concrit is welcome. :)
