So, first final was what here we'd call a failure all over the line, but whatever, I knew that. So, what do I do instead of killing myself over revising for the next one?

That's right, I went past page fifty of GoT. I finished half an hour ago. Two days ago I wasn't even on page 100. I guess it sadly means I'm hooked, dammit. PEOPLE WHO READ IT I NEED YOUR SAGE ADVICE. After the end of the reaction post, though I don't think it'll be that coherent.

1. Uhm. So. Wow.

2. Point is: I usually don't like fantasy. The only pure fantasy book I ever liked was Lord of the Rings. The Dark Tower doesn't count because it's a genres mash-up and what sold it for me was the western part of it, not the fantasy part of it. So the fact that I loved it means that it's really goddamn good, lol. But seriously, I enjoyed the whole thing a lot. I like that it's all politics and morally gray characters (okay, mostly) and I really really like the entire story.

3. Clearly, since I am coherent with my character tendencies, my favorite is Robb. Aka the only Stark over four years old without a pov. *facepalms forever* And possibly the one Stark that doesn't look safe at all right now, but I'm not sure I want to be spoiled so whatever, I'll be here quietly forever freaking out. My other favorites are Jon, Daenerys, Ned (or well, WAS), Tyrion and Jaime. I like Arya a lot and I think I'll like Sansa in the future - this book I was like 'oh dear girl please wake up and notice that your perfect prince is a stupid psycho brat that needs a bunch of slapping' every time she had a POV but I think I can totally learn to love her if she maintains what she promises. Catelyn would have been cool but she lost me when she told Jon he should've been the one falling off the window. Bran is cool too but I'll admit that the reason I looked forward to his POVs was that Robb was in them lolol. Also I like everyone at the wall except for Alliser (and I keep on writing Alistair - Supernatural, damn you). I also liked the Hound a lot. And Lannister father - surely he has more brains than his stupid nephew, though shame on him for not always appreciating Tyrion's awesomeness. Re people I dislike: Viserys had to be my least favorite and I didn't shed a tear when he died, Joffrey has to get beheaded sometime before book three and Lysa/her kid creep me out so much that I can't even fathom it. Suspended judgment: Cersei - I think I could appreciate her but until now she only hurt people I like so I can't exactly be like OMG AWESOME so ask me when I read two, at least and Littlefinger - I did like him but the Ned situation was enough to make me stop. Also I liked Khal Drogo a lot - yeah, shame.

4. Ship-wise: I totally liked Daenerys/Drogo. Clearly - yeah. Right. *facepalm* I also think I ship Jon/Sam *facepalm again* but then again Sam's utter mancrush on Jon was priceless. Also with a canon incest pairing I have to go think that I'd have totally done Jon/Robb if they were older than fourteen. *facepalm all over again* Never ask me how the heck my head works.

5. Anyway, THEY HAVE ZOMBIES? THAT'S SO COOL. LIKE, SO COOL. I'm so excited about the zombies, you can't even.

Also I want my own direwolf.

6. Uhm, so. I mostly enjoyed the whole thing, but also because I was half-spoiled. I mean, I had read about Ned dying on freaking Wikipedia one day when I went to check what it was about (and it's like IN THE FIRST TWO LINES OF CHARACTER DESCRIPTION, WTF), so when he actually died I was only pissed at how, not about him dying at all. Also I knew it was because of Joffrey (heck when all your Twitter feed goes like JOFFREY YOU LITTLE SHIT DIE you sort of get it), but for some reason I was sure that they had him killed because he hadn't confessed treason. I hadn't realized that they had him killed AFTER he confessed. Now the only thing I want to see is Robb cutting Joffrey's head. Anyway. I also knew that Khal Drogo was going to die because I saw a graphic on someone's tumblr (and readily blocked all GoT posts from my dash), and the other two deaths - well, I had got that Robert was going to bite it if Ned had to bite it, and like hell I'd have shed a tear for Viserys (tbh I had wanted to see him die suffering since the second time he opened his mouth - I hate the Henry Dean of the situation *cough* *notsousefulreference*), so it didn't exactly fuck me over in terms of character death.

Now, point is: I read the book because I wanted to see the series, knowing that it was the kind of thing that appealed to me, but since I used to be green with envy at ASoIaF getting the HBO series while the Dark Tower is getting what'll be the suckiest book adaptation ever or so it seem (okay, irrational but still, fantasy series, right?) I figured, if I read the book and I'll like it I stop having quibbles. And clearly now I'm hooked so I'll watch the show when I'm done with exams and keep on with the series. Problem: I know that it gets worse in character death terms and last time I really got attached to a character in a fantasy series and said person died, I cried for four hours, smacked the book across the room, freak out my mom and okay, you got it. And it was ONE. Now, I did enjoy this one even if one of my favorites died because I knew it. And I'm getting invested already. Question: should I spoil myself to death regarding who bites it though not regarding how they bite it or it's a very bad idea? I really like the whole thing, but I'm absolutely not interested in repeating what I call the Dark Tower experience. (Actually after that I had sworn to myself to never start a series if not finished - yeah, right. Please don't tell me that he likes to end books with cliffhangers because then I can go and curse myself.) Idk, to people who read it without being spoiled, does it really kill the investment? I need advice on how to go with this because I want to enjoy it, not to tear off my hair.

7. By the way, killing Ned like that took guts. I get how it works in the story's span, and anyway I started it knowing he was going to bite it, but woah. I do get why my Twitter feed was insane when it happened in the series. :/ anyway, throwing this one against the wall is something I still haven't wanted to do. If the story's quality keeps on and he doesn't fuck with me a la Dark Tower VII I can work with it.

8. ... I'm ridiculously hooked, dammit. Also re the ending - uhm, just wow. That was some powerful stuff.

9. Also: in which episode there's that bit about Daenerys eating the horse's heart? Because I can deal with violence and blood baths and bloodbaths and cut heads, but that bit was making me retch reading it. I might want to know so I can conveniently not look.

10. Regarding plot points I guess that right now I'm mostly interested in: a) what the fuck is Robb going to do, b) what the holy crap is happening at the Wall and where the heck is Ben Stark anyway (zombie army leader?), c) wtf will happen with Tyrion. Also Arya is ending up at the Wall, y/y? And I really want to know what happens with Sansa now as well. I hope as fuck she gets to spit in Joffrey's face at least. Also I want to know how they're gonna bring the people in Winterfell back into the picture since both Bran and his brother seem pretty out of commission for the moment. Oh and of course I also want Daenerys to storm back down with a horde of barbarians and conquer the world ;)

11. Oh, wait. If after three quarters of this book being about Stannis Baraethon he doesn't deliver on all the expectations for awesomeness that I have I'll be sorely disappointed.

12. Also Robb is so totally my favorite. Sigh. I like people too young for the position they're in, especially if they're also too nice for their own good, secretly not-so-made-of-steel and as honorable as it gets. Doesn't hurt that I was gone at the description since guy has exactly the kind of face I like, but okay. I'll just resign myself to his lack of POVs, shall I.

13. Also it's two AM and I've been on that book since eight PM, so I might want to quit talking about it. Wait for me to watch the series and start talking about it all over again.
