Still sick. *sigh* And for the one day I stay at home and could have my laughs with Heroes in the morning, I find out that it wasn't airing yesterday. Oh well. I pretty much spent my morning doing other stuff. Such as,

7823 / 50000 words. 16% done!,

which is pretty much good. I might do more this afternoon. And since I had the post almost ready for three days or such, I finished the rec post of everything I read for the [livejournal.com profile] lostsquee feedback challenge.

Favorite fics from my lurking period, or when I practically read only Jack/Sawyer.

1. Bleed Together by [livejournal.com profile] halfdutch: what if it was Jack that Sawyer had met the night before flight 815 instead of Christian? This is one of the best Jack/Sawyer fics I ever read, seriously. It actually seems like perfect canon and I rarely read such a great Sawyer POV. So intriguing, and absolutely brilliant.

2. Taming by [livejournal.com profile] eponine119: wow. That's everything I have to say about this. I've rarely read such dark Jack/Sawyer written so well and with a characterization that is just nothing short of excellent. It's just them and their completely fucked up dynamic, but done just so well. Just outstanding.

3. Revenant by [livejournal.com profile] zelda_zee: this was the first Lost fic I ever read, period (Jack/Sawyer again! I swear the music is going to change soon though ;) ), when I still barely had an idea of who Jack, Kate and Sawyer were; well, I just fell in love with it then and I couldn't speak highly enough of it if I tried. It just draws you in and doesn't let you go anymore. It's just amazing and definitely one of my favorite fics ever.

4. Whims Of The Wind by [livejournal.com profile] elliotsmelliot: say hi to one of the best Desmond POVs I've stumbled upon. What if Libby hadn't given Desmond the boat initially? You can just hear Desmond here. I felt like he was there in front of me and the premise is very original and intriguing, not to mention that Libby's characterization is excellent, too.

Now there's a tad more Boone, which sounds way more reasonable for my patterns ;)

5. Five Things That Never Happened To Boone Carlyle by [livejournal.com profile] 1001cranes: well, this is the best Boone POV I ever read my whole life. Everything said. It's a pity that the writer doesn't write for Lost anymore because really? This proves exactly what I think about Boone. It shows five different outcomes of his fall from the plane, all definitely different from one another, keeping him absolutely IC each single time. It gets extremely nasty and dark at some parts, doesn't spare drug use or amputation and doesn't indulge in any niceness whatsoever, but it just shows how much could have been done with the character and what a waste it was to kill him off.

6. Pirates Of Craphole Island by [livejournal.com profile] themoononastick: this has to be some of the best crack ever cracked. Because seriously, Jack Sparrow ending up on Craphole Island while Jack is having a bad day dealing with his desires for Sawyer, Sayid ties his hair up for torturing because it's prescribed in the Torturer's Handbook by Harper Collins and Captain Jack's compass starts turning the island into a slash fest? Just brilliant. Everyone is so IC, Captain Sparrow most of all, and I just couldn't hold laughter back.

7. The Mall Planning Committee by [livejournal.com profile] toestastegood: I so have a soft spot for Boone/Charlie and this fic is just so good. Sometimes it's just good to see them slashed alive in S1 and here they're both so IC and it ties so well with canon. Not to mention a brilliant Boone POV and excellent Charlie voice. I so love it.

8. Office Romance by [livejournal.com profile] strifechaos: what if Jack worked for a business company, Boone was his secretary and they both ridiculously lusted after each other? This AU is just so much fun, and it has some awesome UST. You can actually feel it at one point, for how much those two repress themselves.

What I usually don't read (Ben! Het! Kate/Sawyer!)

9. Tomorrow's Yesterday by [livejournal.com profile] augrah: I usually don't really care much for Ben, but this is a really excellent POV that is so good that you do actually empathize with him. And it's a lot to make me feel sorry for Ben.

10. It's Delicate by [livejournal.com profile] sapphire_child: this such a sweet Charlie/Claire fic and since it's set in S1 it actually has all of what I loved about the pairing back then. Claire is so well written here, I'd take her over the canon one any second, they're both so good together and it's just... delicate as the title says.

11. Snowfall On Main Street by [livejournal.com profile] lenina20: well, I usually don't read Sawyer/Kate, but happy Sawyer/Kate set in Disneyland? It takes being an excellent writer to make me buy just that, but this was written by an uttermost excellent writer. It would have taken nothing to get OOC here but they both stay true to themselves, the tone gets serious when it needs to get serious and it's just so well written that I, well, indeed bought it.

12. Blood Trail by [livejournal.com profile] superduperkc: thing is, het incest squicks me a lot (well, I never considered Boone/Shannon real incest). Considering that Sawyer/Claire never was my favorite pairing and that Jack/Claire, as previously said, always made me cringe, that's a triangle that I never was too big on. But this fic is just superb. The style is incredible, so poetic and straight to the point at the same time, and it keeps everyone just perfectly in character. I wasn't even disturbed since it made the whole thing flow so well.

My Very Favorite Things! Yeah, you were missing the Boone overload, weren't you?

13. Proof by [livejournal.com profile] cynthia_arrow: everything one could want from Jack/Boone but never dared asking. God, this is just so good. It follows a very dark route actually and I never read this pairing brought to such sort of twisted edges. But it totally makes sense within the characterization of them both and it shows such a deep understanding of those two's mechanics and dynamic. Also, it's hot as hell and some passages are just of a sweetness that doesn't clash with the rest. I so love my OTP when it's so well done.

14. Under The Blood Red Flag by [livejournal.com profile] zelda_zee: uhm, so this actually might be one of my ever-favorite fics overall regardless of fandom. Because really? It's an AU of the most brilliant kind (and I like AUs better than canon settings), it features both of my Lost OTPs (Des/Sayid and Jack/Boone), provides excellent and hot sex both, the setting and casting and characterization is exceptional and the writing is gorgeous. Can't really say more about it without entering into gushing territory.

15. Top Five by [livejournal.com profile] isis2015: this has to be some of the nicest, loveliest and feel-good Jack/Sawyer I ever read. The five-things fic model was used so well, I loved how it showed their relationship's development in a non-consequential way and it has some parts where you just feel so warm and happy for them. I swear that J/S comes close to become my OTP whenever I read it. And while it's sweet, it isn't saccharine nor angst-free.

16. The Perfect Con by [livejournal.com profile] emiliglia: I always thought that Sawyer/Boone makes a hell of an interesting pairing, even if it's unfortunately even more rare than Jack/Boone is, and it's saying something. I always thought that a situation where they had no-strings-attached sex or so they thought would have been plausible and this fic does a hell of a job considering the possibility. It's an excellent and apt Sawyer character study and an excellent Boone character study seen through Sawyer. I really loved it.

From G to NC17!

17. Retrocede by [livejournal.com profile] hendercats: excellent Desmond character study, which while being based on spoilers doesn't really spoil much and manages to be heartbreaking and chilling at the same time.

18. No One's Fantasy by [livejournal.com profile] aboutbunnies: uhm, wow? I'm not a Kate fan at all and Edward Mars kind of creeps me out, but this fic? Outstanding. The style is so original and I love how this goes straight to the point and how clear it comes through that the writer does really understand them both and their dynamic. Not to mention that you can practically feel the tension.

19. My Dirty Little Secret by [livejournal.com profile] slybrunette: Boone/Shannon at their absolute naughtiest. I really loved this one. It's just so apt about the Boone/Shannon dynamic and the fact that it's from his POV and does the job brilliantly just earns more points with me ;) it's short but manages to cover a lot and they're both very, very well characterized.

20. What You Touch by [livejournal.com profile] zelda_zee: mmmm, I love myself some Sawyer/Sayid good sex and this? Superb. Within a great AU setting where Sawyer is a O6 and deals with O6!Sayid? Even better. With excellent characterization for them both? Can you ask for more really? ;)

The crack, the on-island, the future and everything else.

21. Whoosh! Pow! Mwah! by [livejournal.com profile] fosfomifira: seriously. The cutest thing I'll ever read my whole life. It's Jack/Sawyer featuring silly/blushing/completely embarrassed!Jack which is pretty much the best thing ever and seriously, it's just so lovely that you want to squish it as you can squish a fic.

22. Faded Denim Blue by [livejournal.com profile] gemjam: this is such a beautiful story. It was one of the first I read in fandom and woah, it’s such a good Sawyer character study (along with some pretty excellent Jack, too) and just so good.

23. Sector 15 by [livejournal.com profile] toestastegood: ha, one of the best AUs ever. Like, ever. Learn what happens when humanity is shoved in an underground bunker as a mechanic voice kindly advices you to breed and Sawyer does exactly the contrary. His POV here is just great, everyone feels incredibly IC, and God, Charlie’s is just as good. I couldn’t speak highly of this enough.

24. The Curse of Craphole Island by [livejournal.com profile] halfdutch: uhm, best crack ever cracked. Seriously. And it’s the kind of crack where everyone is SO IC that you don’t get that it isn’t canon until things like a metamorphosis into a bunny happens, but that just sounds like it. Brilliant.

25. Won't Leave You Alone by [livejournal.com profile] elise_509: this is such a good Jack/Sawyer fic. Set during the finale and just incredibly good with both of them in the circumstances.

26. We Could Have Had The World by [livejournal.com profile] sapphire_child: If only Claire had been like this in S4! Sure, here we have Charlie surviving which only makes it better, but anyway, this has everything I liked in the Charlie/Claire dynamic and that I kind of missed in three seasons. *sigh*

27. Your Hand Can Hold My Heart by [livejournal.com profile] kellysparrow: such a lovely Jack/Sawyer fic, too. She has some very nice visuals and other than very nice, quite hot.

28. For Better, For Worse by [livejournal.com profile] tellshannon815: this is just so clever. It deals with marriages in pretty much all of the dead, alive, present and not-present Losties and it’s just very plausible and well done. Also, I loved the premise.

29. Cheers Darlin' by [livejournal.com profile] slybrunette: what happens when Nirvana!Jack meets Shannon’s ghost, which isn’t really much changed from the Shannon we all knew. Incredibly good characterization for Jack and perfect Shannon indeed.

30. Waiting by [livejournal.com profile] elise_509: this has to be one of my favorite Jack/Juliet fics ever. The setting might be angsty and surely it isn’t of the happily ever after kind, but it’s also so sweet, hot and just good. It’s incredibly how well both of them are written. Just gorgeous.

Okay, that's it. I guess. Oh, and last evening I re-read pretty much all of Of Mice And Men. *sniffs* God, it's just so beautiful. Though today it'll be the turn of those two novels set in Cannery Row, I think.
