meme + stuff

1. I hope all my fellow Italians had a good Liberation Day yesterday! Mine was good, even if I think I made one of my oversleeping records.
2. Ship battle meme with icons stolen from
lenina20, which ended up being crazy. And fun, but mainly crazy. Also, proof that not only I have too many ships icons, but I really am not a mainly het person. Also, I didn't put the icon I have Enchanted because really, it's there just because I like the icon and I thought that movie was adorable but I really can't say I ship people in a Disney movie. Aanyway.
Make a list of all the ships in your icons. (Although you may have more than one icon of a single character ship, they only go on the list once.) Alphabetize it. Take the first two on the list; that's your first pairing for battle. Second two; second pairing for battle. Etc. Then write your reaction to each battle.

Alex/Karl (Lost) vs Aziraphale/Crowley (Good Omens)
Let's start with weird, uh? (BTW, the second icon is fanart, not official art, but still, I loved the art.) Well, Aziraphale/Crowley is kind of my last ship crush because those two haven't left my head since I closed that book and I mean, angel + demon who didn't fall but vaguely sauntered downwards who stop the most cracky apocalypse in history and who have been having UST for six thousand years? I'm in love. Then again, I love Alex/Karl because it was a lovely ship and it didn't deserve the ax it got, but it's not I actually actively shipped it and that icon is there for the single characters and not only for the ship. So, while my judgment could be clouded by the fact that I'm having a crush, Aziraphale/Crowley.

Boone/Charlie vs Boone/Claire (Lost)
Well, this is easier and less weird. I like Boone/Claire just fine proved that it's interestingly written and I think it has a lot of potential, but Boone/Charlie is my second Boone ship all the way. They're more or less the same age, they both have the same issues, their bickering would be delightful and they'd be totally cute at the same time, while if dead well, it's the hottest zombie pairing ever. Boone/Charlie.

Boone Shannon (Lost) vs Chris/Gordie (The Body/Stand By Me, your pick)
Mm. Well, it's no mystery that I don't exactly like Boone/Shannon. I think it's interesting and they had a great relationship even if completely fucked (but I liked it because of that, too), but if I ever wrote it it's just because I can't write Boone without writing it. Sincerely I can't even say I ship it. Re Chris/Gordie, premise: I do NOT ship twelve year olds. But if you read that short story you can't help loving their relationship. I think it's one of the best friendships I've ever read, and King can say whatever he wants but I'd bet something that in high school they'd have been totally all over each other. If aged up, I'm all for it. So, Chris/Gordie.

Daniel/Rorschach (Watchmen) vs Dean/Castiel (Supernatural)
Ha, OF COURSE my two I-like-them-also-platonically-or-as-friends ships had to end up together. Daniel/Rorschach, well, it's there because their relationship is hands down my favorite of all the relationships in the whole of the graphic novel, BFF or slashy , I'm not picky (well, blame also the eighties script for that, but it's so deliciously fucked up of a pair). Dean/Castiel is absolutely wonderful though, I love everything about them. I like them platonically or slashy, their relationship is totally my favorite part of S4 and come on, Castiel brought him back from Hell. Uhm, I have a thing for ships with angels in, it looks like. Mm, well, also because I've been into it longer, I'm more invested in SPN and right now I'm in a sea of Cas love, Dean/Castiel. But those other two are close.

Dean/Sam (Supernatural) vs Desmond/Charlie (Lost)
Oh God, wrong ship #1 because it's incest versus wrong ship #2 because canon fucked it up. These are both incredibly angsty ships and I love them both to pieces (yes, the first one also because it's so wrong but you can't help it) though. Not to mention that in SPN either you ship incest or angels/humans, but I made peace with it a long time ago. Mm, hard to say really. If Des/Charlie had been my favorite Des ship maybe it'd have won, and all the Ruby stuff lately on SPN is kind of making me want to slam Sam's head against a wall in order to re-gain reason when she's in the proximities, so.. what the hell, tie.

Des/Penny vs Des/Sawyer (Lost)
Well. Easy one. Sorry Des and Sawyer, you have some great potential and you're hot and you were the pairing of my first real Lost fic and I'll always love your relationship-that-could-have-been but never was, but Desmond/Penny is my last hope of a het pairing I like lasting in Lost. And probably the first het pairing I really liked in the whole show (I mean, until S2 I wasn't that big on het really). Des/Penny hands down.

Desmond/Sayid vs Jack/Boone
LOL. That's good. My two favorite Lost slash pairings and of course... anyway, no question. Des/Sayid, sorry. I love the both of you, you are incredibly hot together, I miss your interaction, your accents together make me melt and you have torturers to kill in common, but there's no question here. Jack/Boone is my favorite pairing overall, is what I shipped in the beginning, is what made me cry hardest, is still my favorite pairing for my favorite character *cough*, I think they'd have been totally good for each other and since I don't want to start ranting again since I do it too often, Jack/Boone.

Jack/Ennis (Brokeback Mountain) vs Jack/Juliet (Lost)
This meme is mean. Jack/Ennis is all kinds of perfection and now that I think about it BBM is probably the only movie I've seen in a theater three times, but it's so perfect I couldn't touch it. In the sense that I couldn't ever write it. And the short story made me cry then. Jack/Juliet is the only Jack het pairing I really ship and I just love it even if they completely butchered it (as usual) and aaargh. *flips coin* Jack/Ennis by a notch. Because it's perfection. Which doesn't mean that I don't totally love Jack/Juliet. (Also, LOL that all the Jack pairings I have are with the Lost Jack except this one.)

Jack/Sawyer vs Jack/Sawyer/Sayid
Is that even a serious match? Anyway, I'll be short. Jack/Sawyer. Not that I don't like it when Sayid is thrown into the mix, actually I LOVE it, but half the reason I watch Lost is that I fell for Boone while watching the pilot and the other half is that I read Jack/Sawyer fic by chance. I might not be able to write it regularly and canon might have butchered it but I can't not love J/S if only for that, even if it's not even my favorite pairing.

Jack/Sayid (Lost) vs Jimmy Page/Robert Plant (Led Zeppelin)
Oh God. Jack/Sayid vs the only RPS (or so) icon I have?
Here comes the confession. When I wrote in Italian, I wrote a heap of Plant/Page RPS. And before you start to think I'm crazy, watch a Led Zeppelin concert from '73/'74/'75 and don't tell me they weren't practically doing it on stage. Because they totally were. And while I think that Jack/Sayid is an excellent pairing, I've got to bow to the RPS. Jimmy Page/Robert Plant. The day you want me to make a post with all the evidence me and my BFF gathered back then to support our belief in the pairing, I can do it.

Maurice/Alec (Maurice) vs Ned/Chuck (Pushing Daisies)
I do love Ned/Chuck. I love it heaps. Like I love Pushing Daisies heaps and I'm still totally heartbroken over it. But. Maurice/Alec is the best canon thing that has happened in my slasher life and (SPOILERS FOR THE BOOK)... it ends well. It's one of the three books I read where there's a gay couple in canon and it ends with them sort of living happily ever after, or at least reunited happily ever after. They don't die, they don't commit suicide, I've seen the movie at least fifteen times and the book was written in freaking 1912. Which sums in, E. M. Forster wins and Maurice/Alec wins, too.

Roland/Eddie (The Dark Tower) vs Sawyer/Juliet (Lost)
Well, this isn't a question. I like Sawyer/Juliet just fine but Roland/Eddie is probably the first OTP I had in the real sense of the word. I rarely shipped a literary pairing so hard. I was sold on it by the half of the second book and apart from the infamous Musketeers slashing, I think they're my overall favorite ship ever or something. And I gave those damned books a good year and a half of my life and even now if I pick randomly one book up I just can't help it. Roland/Eddie.

Sawyer/Sayid (Lost) vs Tim/Jason (Friday Night Lights)
I get it out of my way now. Tie. I can't really say anything specific because I haven't watched S3 of FNL and I swear I will someday, but watching it would mean the death of ship #2 here, even if considering how it ended (I'm spoiled) I'd probably love it. I just can't deal with it. And whether friends or slashy, those two made me cry like a few other ships. On the other hand Sawyer/Sayid is totally one of my favorite Lost ships, I think it has a lot of potential, it's pretty much incredibly hot and as deliciously fucked up as it goes. So I tie and maybe when I watch FNL I'll let you know. ;)
AAAAND the one that remained alone because the icons are odd and I kinda couldn't put a Clint icon in competition...

Robert/Francesca from The Bridges of Madison County. I love them so. ;_; ♥ Clearly, it's Clint and it wins.
3. Memes speaking, I need to spread love for the two fics I got for the alphabed meme until now.
emiliglia wrote me the most angsty and heartbreaking and lovely Jack/Boone ficlet and
toestastegood wrote me some Boone/Charlie videotaping sex which is all kinds of perfection. Go read them! ;)
3b. I still have six or seven letters free at said meme, so if you want to give me a hand filling it all they're there. ;) I'll probably spend half of the afternoon writing anyway, that meme was a good thing. I wrote more in two days than one month.
4. I think I'm in Adrian Pasdar withdrawal enough to catch up with Heroes. This volume had better be better than three though.
5. On the 23rd it was something like International Book Day and at my usual bookshop everything was sold with a 30% discount. Clearly they couldn't have said it before so that I'd have waited to buy some stuff for school which would have cost way less with such a discount but when I found it out I caved and got Gaiman, Steinbeck and Chabon non-fiction and saved a lot of money. Next year I'll be better prepared.
5b. And anyway, I wanted to buy Good Omens for a friend's birthday because I think she'd have a kick out of it. But she doesn't read in English, so I went searching for it in Italian. Well, apart from finding out they translated the title Good Apocalypse to Everyone! (really), I find out it's completely out of print and at said bookshop, which is a chain with at least eight stores in Rome, there isn't a single one which has a copy. Really? I mean, geez. (Well, fine, I think the only Gaiman book I've actually seen in print in Italian is Stardust, but still.) Then I bought her another thing but still, really? Out of print. Ah well, it's not like I'd have bought it with such a title. I'd kill whoever adapts books like that.
