Because while I write stuff which I have a deadline for I end up trying to write drabbles. :/ And I shouldn't be up at one AM, but I apparently am and that's what comes out.

Summary: He doesn’t flinch when Cas’ grip tightens.

A/N: title from the same Flogging Molly song I steal for past!Dean/future!Castiel fics. And, I haven't written a drabble in ages and I'm obsessed with 5x04. That'd be it.

They stop the car; Cas lays his hand, palm upward, on the gear shift.

(A pill falls down.)

“Could... could you? For a minute?” he asks; Dean doesn’t get it. Cas turns and he looks like a man who knows he’s going to die very soon; and Dean gets it.

“Yeah,” he whispers, his voice choked. He interlaces his fingers with Cas’, carefully, his palm meeting warm, rough skin; wrong, he thinks.

(He doesn’t flinch when Cas’ grip tightens; rather, he reciprocates it, his thumb brushing Cas’ knuckle.)

I swear I’ll fix this is all he hopes his gestures say.
