Title: Play It All Night Long
Author:
janie_tangerine
Artist:
_izu_
Pairing: Dean/Castiel
Rating: NC17
Word count: 43000 ca
Warnings/Spoilers: the backstory implies talking about the American health care system in not exactly positive terms. Also, very peripherally referenced homophobia.
Summary: the rom-com-ish one where Dean hosts a late night radio show, Castiel is a regular listener of his who starts calling one day and ends up calling more often than not and Dean finds himself liking it. This, until one day Castiel calls for not exactly petty reasons (just before Dean's brother Sam is visiting with his girlfriend for spring break) and things get very, very crowdy at his place. He also doesn't know it's just the beginning of it. Also features Gabriel, Chuck, Andy, the Roadhouse crew and a huge amount of music quoted. Especially Bob Dylan.
Disclaimer:: the characters aren't mine, all the songs here referenced are property of their respective writers and the only thing I own here is the plot (yes, yes, not even the title).
A/N (brief version): okay, I just hope this comes across the way I want to. I have enabled anonymous comments if anyone feels more comfortable leaving a comment without signing in, and I will appreciate and take into consideration any kind of feedback, constructive criticism included, also by PM. :)

Date: 2010-06-30 02:48 pm (UTC)Did you have someone look over this when writing? I only ask because some of your sentence structure is a little off and I think it could benefit from a beta having a look over it as it can be a bit distracting, personally it doesn't bother me too much, I'm dyslexic so I'm used to it but other reader's might find it off putting.
It's an awesomely sweet story thou :)
ETA:- I read the author's note's sorry, I see you used a beta but I do think it could use a second set of eye's or even a third, sometimes running i threw a spell check isn't enough, not that I'm saying that's what your beta did, god's I'm coming off as a right moaner and I'm really not, but this is a great story I just think it needs a little more tweaking to get it just right!
sorry to nit pick!
ALSO Fantastic music, I think I own nearly every record you mentioned, I'm not a hug Bob fan myself but I do like some of his work. I also had a small squee when you included the Zeppelin BBC session's travelling riverside blues :D

Hey, I said up there I accept all comments, and since English is not my mother tongue you have all rights to point out at me that my sentence structure is weird. (It's just that I'm adjusted to Italian sentence structure which is a whole other thing, so while I try to keep it under control I just slip into it without noticing.) Also ha, you don't want to know how the first draft was, my poor beta did have her work to do there. Point is that I edited this one in May/June which is when we have finals (and I'm still doing finals eww) and I really didn't have the material time to get it checked by more than one person, not to mention that I ended up sending the first draft later than I had thought I would. But you totally had a point and next time I have something this long on my hands I'll probably have two people look it over or at least I'll try to organize my time better. ;) And don't be sorry! I'm okay with it, really. :)
And ha, yay, much glad you liked the music! You do have good taste then. ;) ;) and ha, I love the BBC Sessions.

Date: 2010-06-30 04:43 pm (UTC)no worrys on the bata thing, I kinda though English might not be your first language, but like I said this story is a fantastic one and one I'd definitely rec to others :D
My Mothers taste is similar but not the same as mine when it comes to music and in allot of ways she doesn't understand how I can love sixty's/seventy's rock and roll and metal so much as I was an 80's child [thou punk rules} but it was purely our neighbours fault, He played Zeppelin and lynyrd skynyrd loudly over the weekend's and week day's and wasn't much for turning it down so I ended up drifting off to sleep to the sound's of bands like Zeppelin, AC/DC, Bob Dylan, Iron Maiden, Metallica Pink Floyd, Jethro Tull and Alice in Chain's :) I may have resented him sometimes but theirs no denying the dude had great taste in music and that followed on threw my school and collage year's. I was never one for pop and R&B so SPN was my idea of haven when I first herd the music they were using, My mum looked at me and groaned when she realised I knew the artiest, actually it was a bit of a shock for her because unlike her I mostly listen to my stuff threw headphones unless alone in the house :D so I kinda scared her with how much I knew :)
My mp3 list is somewhat scary too >:)

Date: 2010-06-30 06:18 pm (UTC)Nah, and I had the luck of having a mother tongue which absolutely loves run-on sentences and a couple of other things which in English are like, NO all the way. But thanks for pointing that out really, next time I'll see to work more on that. And good to know it didn't put you off the story. :))
Awww, your neighbor does have quite the taste! I wish I had one too, if only because my mother likes mostly classical music (which she totally passed to me too, but now writing AUs where they're opera singers would probably be WAY too much ;) ) and my father stopped at French songwriters from the seventies and all that awesome classic rock I had to find out on my own, which I guess was more fun on one side and not exactly as much because I didn't have records from before. And then we arrived at a point where everyone in the family went to see Bob Dylan, I recognized songs and they didn't. And I'm pretty much a 70s/80s kind of person too, yay for that? ;) Oops, yay for rambling at you about music stuff I guess. xD And hey, having scary mp3 lists is totally awesome, at least in my book. :D

Date: 2010-06-30 09:58 pm (UTC)I like opera as well but I'm not to fond of the English stuff, mostly the Italian/French classics personally, classical music is cool, I was very into it in collage as it helped with studying now a days I listen to classic FM only when I feel in the mood, still it's a past love that I dip into every now and again so theirs no shame in that:)
The only problem I have is that I'm not a big fan of allot of the new metal stuff and I'm forever comparing it to the classic greats but their are a few bands out their I like :)
I'm a fan of Alter Bridge their a band I recently discovered threw a friend's fic and Breaking Benjamin aren't to bad either.
I think if I ever lsot my mp3's I'd cry for a long time, I have all of Zeppelin's albums, all of AC/DC's stuff, Jethro Tull and Metallica's albums as well as Van Halen's discography and most of Iron Maiden's stuff. I'm working on getting Skynyrd's album's along with Pink Floyd and load's of other's, my Music folder is a mess frankly and needs re-organizing so of course I'm putting it off.
I really should back it up but I'm awful that way lol!

Date: 2010-07-02 08:50 am (UTC)LOL, it is, right? And re opera I like Italian/German stuff better, though well, now not liking the Italian would be suicidal considering that I don't need a translation for it. ;) Classical is my comfort music or something. Also it's good for studying, yeah.
Oh, I don't like nu metal. At all. Just not my thing. Give me Zeppelin any day over that, please. I do like some current bands but apparently everyone I seem to really like disbands after two records, nowadays. :/ I don't know Alterbridge too well but their singer is awesome. (Well, a friend of mine likes them and he sang on Slash's solo record which is why I can say he is, lol, but he has a great voice.)
Mm, ALL THAT STUFF IS SO GOOD. And lol my music folder is like... 125 gbs of stuff 10 of which are just Bruce Springsteen, which should be scary enough, but I should totally put stuff in place too. It's becoming messy. XD
