quick random post & stuff

1. Yesterday I went to see The Boat That Rocked and omg, what a delicious movie! Why hadn't I heard of it before reading a rec on the newspaper? Why didn't I know something so awesome was coming out? Because seriously, I can't remember having so much good-hearted fun seeing a movie in ages. And the soundtrack was seriously something precious. And the acting was great (and I mean, best part Philip Seymour Hoffman ever got -nod-) and the drama part was really well done even if it still was all deliciously fun and I'm just still high from it. Or maybe a movie about pirate radios broadcasting rock music illegally in the sixties is just my kind of movie. Anyway, the advice is, go see it. ;)

2. Er, god, in the Lost newsletter there was the link for scifibigbang and uuuhm, I'm seriously considering signing up. I mean, I have a ton of ideas for a 25000+ words Lost story and a couple SPN ones that would get to that length without a problem and the deadline is October 31st... but I dunno if I should sign up for such a big deal. Even if it's tempting. And it's four months. Uuuhm. *will think about it*

3. About that, tomorrow I should have some of that fic I owe, if I actually can stick an end on at least two.

4. I also found The Mountain by Steve Earle! I can't actually believe that there was some record of his around which isn't the first, but then again, the price was thirty euros. Seriously. Thankfully I had a discount with that chain and I paid it half the price but still, that's what I call theft. *rolls eyes*

5. There's a referendum on the 21st. And I, seriously, did not get what the fuck I should vote. I didn't manage to understand half of it.

6. Well, I need to lose my virginity with this stuff. Right?

Anyway, short for it, go vote for Misha Collins. ;)

7. Okay, I need more Alison Krauss into my life. Anyone has recs to give me before I just go and d/l the whole discography? ;)

8. Er, I think that's all. I know, I had more exciting posts. This isn't one of them. But to reiterate, go see #1. It totally is worth the price of the ticket.

I'll have to see that movie... I love PSH, omg. Did you ever see The Savages that he made with Laura Linney? It's just a small-time independent film, but gahhhh. So so good. If you get the chance, definitely see it. Also, The 25th Hour is another one with him in it that's just AMAZING. One of my top ten of all-time, definitely. But that could also be because Edward Norton is the main character, and I'm fitfully obsessed with him. So... Yeah. :D

I think you should go for the Big Bang. I'm not very familiar with the whole thing (I kind of stay out of the loop and do my own writing just when I feel like it...I dunno, I'm weird.), but if it gets you writing and you think you could do it - and more importantly have fun doing it - you should go for it.

And you should definitely download "Killing the Blues," a co-op between Alison Krauss and Robert Plant. It's absolutely amazinggorgeousbeautifulsweetsoooooo. Damn. Good.

OH YES YOU DO!!! YOU SO DO, IT'S AWESOME. I didn't see that one but I saw him in 25th Hour which is totally one of my favorite movies ever, then in Capote and... uh, I think it was Before The Devil Knows You're Dead and maybe somewhere else. And he was great in all of them but here he was just the awesome. And HI, FELLOW NORTON FAN! I ♥ Norton, lol.

Well, it'd probably get me writing at least one of two possibly very long Dean/Cas fics which I doubt I'd have the courage to write otherwise so I'll probably go for it. I'm more on the doing-it side right now.

I heard about that movie because I have a friend who's a huge fan of Tom Sturridge. So far I've only read mixed reviews so I haven't seen it yet, but I trust your taste a lot. :D

Oh, it's lovely. I just had a crack out of it, it was so fun! And Sturridge was great in it, lol. I've only read a good one which was the one that informed me of its existence so I wouldn't know about others, but I know I totally enjoyed every second of it.

Well, COUGH me and this friend have written these AU series of fics and rp that's basically Jack Shephard/Regulus Black (who looks like Tom Sturridge). It's very Jack/Boone. That's pretty much the only reason I know who he is.

I never went to see The Boat that Rocked when it was out over here, though I don't actually remember why. I remember making plans to go and see it, but I guess they must have fallen through!

And, gosh, don't tempt me with scifibigbang. I know I probably don't have the time/stamina, and yet I keep looking hopefully at it.

LOL, I'm exactly in the same position. But it's so tempting! And it's less than Nanowrimo, I guess. Gosh, well, if I end up joining and you end up doing it too then we can at least cheerlead each other I guess. ;)

I really really want to see that movie, but I think it's already finished here, so I have to wait till it comes onto Sky. I can't understand why it wasn't better advertised around the world if you hadn't heard of it until you saw it. We had a lot of stuff about it here, and I knew it was on my to see list, but I find it so difficult to get to the cinema these days (ah, to be young, free and single again! HA!) that things have often finished before I get there. It's loosely based on the story of Radio Caroline, and it looks to be awesome, so I'm glad to hear you thought it was! (Anything with Bill Nighy in has to be awesome, incidentally) ;-)

Seriously, what was with the publicity? I didn't even hear of it until it was out here and it's a pity because I'd have been looking forward to it! Instead I just went flying blind but when it arrives on Sky you should really catch it, it's totally worth it. And Billy Nighy was something great in there, I loved his character!

1) I've vaguely heard of the movie, but now I'll definitely have to check it out -- love Phillip Seymour Hoffman!

2) Wow, that's ambitious -- I break into cold sweats just thinking about trying to tackle a fic bigger than 10k, lol.

7) Alison Krauss is fantastic, though I don't know enough of her stuff to rec anything. I don't think you can go wrong with much, though.

Because they're doing a lousy promotion job. I hadn't heard of it until it was out here and it's just crazy.

Heee, I'm still debating. I'm this close to sign up though. And I might even do two since I'm undecided between SPN and Lost but anyway it'd be as much as I did last year with Nanowrimo and I'd have four months instead of one.

And yay! He can win that one... I hope. ;)
