1) First: happy birthday [livejournal.com profile] cassiopeia7! :DDD I hope you're having an awesome day, that you get a lot of books for gifts none of which by Jane Austen and that you get spoiled with as much cake as you'd like ♥

2) Then: there are two tv-related things I'll talk about in this post. Vampire porn: okay listen this season doesn't seem like the epitome of coherent plot to me, but the Originals-related spin-off made it look like old school HBO in comparison. I'm not even going to bother with spoiler cutting, but I've never seen anything more ridiculous in my entire life. Okay, Ringer was probably as bad if not worse in certain points, but hahahahaha no. Considering that I really don't care about Klaus regardless I'm... not watching it. Nope. Sticking with the good old vampire porn, thanks.

3) Thankfully Supernatural was the total opposite instead (meaning, I loved the shit out of it).

spoilers )

4) Also, a meme from the aforementioned birthday girl in point one. :D

Basically, you give someone an age and they fill out the meme for where they were and what they were doing. If you want to join in, comment and give me a ballpark figure for how old you are now, or a decade of your life for me to choose from, and I will select an age for you. She gave me 17. :)

here - THE EXCITEEMEEENT )

5. Also: Patti Smith might be going towards seventy but you totally don't notice it. No seriously if when I'm her age I'm 5% as cool as she is I'll take it. (Yes, I went to concert number six. I think she's officially the person I've seen live most. <3)

Related to that: when I went to buy the tickets, I also ran into a horde of Justin Bieber fans. It was... uuuh. An interesting experience. details here )

6) I've also seen IM3! :D even if I still haven't seen the second. I'm a horrible fan. Whatever. No spoilers because seriously I watch those movies mostly for fun and I don't really have anything deep to say, but it was a good movie, I had a lot of fun, at least I caught it in English and the post-credits scene completely killed me in all the good ways. Anyone who's seen it knows what I mean. And if you know how I tick then you probably guessed why I've been all like THE POST-CREDITS SCENE since yesterday. Also if someone had told me that I'd go watch RDJ being Iron Man when I was dying over him when he was in Ally McBeal I'm not sure I'd have bought it, but it's all good. NOW SOMEONE PLEASE GIVE ME THE CAPTAIN AMERICA SEQUEL THANK YOU I need that certain character back in my life.

7) Steve Earle's new record is beyond excellent. <3 Yes, this deserved a point for itself.

8) Also, I bought cookie stamps and I made Stark and Tully cookies. I figured I'd share because I'm very pleased with the result xD

Also, Alfie Allen needs to stop being fucking adorable and making me die over his stupid face. There, I said it.

9) Aaand that's all I have for now. I'll probably go crash before I look at the clock and realize that it's 2 AM again. (The joys of never going to bed at reasonable times...)

1. I finished the [livejournal.com profile] scifibigbang #1. Yes. Two weeks later than the deadline, but I finished it. Argh. Now I need to finish #2 in like three days maximum but in this one I needed to figure plot out, in that one I don't. Which means it'll take a lot less. And my record was 10000 words in one day which means I'll try to re-do it. And then I can go doing my Christmas exchange fics (and thankfully two are already planned in my head) and then I can go and start doing things in time. Yes. That wouldn't be a bad idea.

2. Apparently, my master fic list doesn't fit into one post anymore. If I was able to do summaries without quoting from the actual fics then I wouldn't have the problem, but is seems like I'm not able. So sometime in the next week I'll probably split it in two and keep part I for Lost and part II for everything else, so if a random half of master fic list pops up on your fl next week just ignore it. ;)

3. I went to see The Men Who Stare At Goats and it's AWESOME. George Clooney + Ewan McGregor + pacifism + crack on a stick which actually is serious + goats + Boston = awesomeness. Now I need to go catch Public Enemies, Up and The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus. Sometime in the next two weeks I guess. Maybe when I finish the bigbang #2.

4. There will be a card post coming soon-ish. Either tonight or tomorrow.

5. I'm not going to throw another ton of Misha Collins fangirling on everyone again, but after the latest con I can only say two things. One, that he's so awesome that I can't even fathom. Two, that I want April to be tomorrow. Oh, and I need to add, this morning I spent twenty minutes or so staring at this. I'm sadly not lying. Misha, why, why so awesome? (and fine looking, I need to add?)

6. Aand, BOOK RECS! I have some stuff I've been reading in the last month and a half or so, but I wanted to finish a couple so I ended up doing the post just now.

Stephen King, Steve Earle, Neil Gaiman (again), Cheeta's autobiography, Michael Chabon (again) and maybe something else. Mostly short stories books. )

7. Also, I'm the only person who forgets when she DOESN'T have classes. Last Thursday I was sure I had one and I waited two hours after I finished the first before realizing that the professor said he was not going to be there this week. I mean. Not that I lost time or anything but... *sigh* though, next week I'll just have the pedagogy class one day and NOT ON FRIDAY! YAY! I'll manage to see the SPN ep in peace for once.

8. Okay, off answering comments and stuff I owe. Maybe after I'll re-post some ficlets, but I need to see if I'll still be awake. *waves*

1. Uh, I still have one Dreamwidth code. Anyone wants?

2. So, yesterday, after months of searching for it, I located a copy of Sowing The Seeds - The 10th Anniversary, aka the MOST AWESOME compilation in the history of ever, full of awesome people and political songs and I seriously mean it (I mean, I bought it because there was The Ghost Of Tom Joad sung by Pete Seeger AND Bruce Springsteen, but there's also Lou Reed, Burce Cockburn, Roger McGuinn, STEVE EARLE, Billy Bragg, Ani DiFranco, Tim Robbins and a heap of other awesome people, famous and less famous). And then I'm looking at the tracklist and what is there? A song named Namaste by The Kennedys. It probably doesn't have anything to do with Lost but it's still amusing as hell. And it's a nice song too.

3. Er, so, given that I need some Misha Collins in my life and since I still don't know if I have the stomach to see Karla and I'm waiting for his episodes of 24 to get to the newsstand at a cheaper price (next week they should start) and since I had downloaded Finding Home some two weeks ago I just went and watched it. And then... well. I dunno if I'll get spoilery but cut for anyone who doesn't give a damn anyway )

4. By the way, movies speaking, when I was at my grandparents' I caught one of the few Wilder movies I hadn't seen on cable, said movie was One, Two, Three and it's freaking hilarious and awesome and I think I need the dvd. I don't know why it's so underrated but it was something wonderful.

5. I'm officially signed up for [livejournal.com profile] scifibigbang. Good luck to me, especially since I'm still completely undecided about what I should go for with the SPN one. I think I'll go with the WWII AU with Lost, I want to tackle the Some Like It Hot AU before and I don't want to wait until December to post it anyway if I do.

6. I found Steve Earle's latest record!! \o/ About one month and a half since it came out, true, and I had to pay in blood for it or something since of course it has to cost more than the average new record out, but still. I found it anyway! Now I just wish I could find the... er, like, four or five that I'm missing *sigh*.

7. And on to serious business for a second, the way the Iran election is covered here? Ludicrous. Or at least that's what I think if before showing it they lose fifteen minutes with random interviews to politicians about the administrative elections. No one gives a damn, or at least not me.

8. Okay, I should probably go studying for the only easy exam I get this round. I don't have exactly much force of will but I'll find it somewhere. And er, this entry was even more pointless than usual I guess, but I've done worse. I think. And that Namaste song is infecting my brain, I think.

1. Yesterday I went to see The Boat That Rocked and omg, what a delicious movie! Why hadn't I heard of it before reading a rec on the newspaper? Why didn't I know something so awesome was coming out? Because seriously, I can't remember having so much good-hearted fun seeing a movie in ages. And the soundtrack was seriously something precious. And the acting was great (and I mean, best part Philip Seymour Hoffman ever got -nod-) and the drama part was really well done even if it still was all deliciously fun and I'm just still high from it. Or maybe a movie about pirate radios broadcasting rock music illegally in the sixties is just my kind of movie. Anyway, the advice is, go see it. ;)

2. Er, god, in the Lost newsletter there was the link for [livejournal.com profile] scifibigbang and uuuhm, I'm seriously considering signing up. I mean, I have a ton of ideas for a 25000+ words Lost story and a couple SPN ones that would get to that length without a problem and the deadline is October 31st... but I dunno if I should sign up for such a big deal. Even if it's tempting. And it's four months. Uuuhm. *will think about it*

3. About that, tomorrow I should have some of that fic I owe, if I actually can stick an end on at least two.

4. I also found The Mountain by Steve Earle! I can't actually believe that there was some record of his around which isn't the first, but then again, the price was thirty euros. Seriously. Thankfully I had a discount with that chain and I paid it half the price but still, that's what I call theft. *rolls eyes*

5. There's a referendum on the 21st. And I, seriously, did not get what the fuck I should vote. I didn't manage to understand half of it.

6. Well, I need to lose my virginity with this stuff. Right?

Anyway, short for it, go vote for Misha Collins. ;)

7. Okay, I need more Alison Krauss into my life. Anyone has recs to give me before I just go and d/l the whole discography? ;)

8. Er, I think that's all. I know, I had more exciting posts. This isn't one of them. But to reiterate, go see #1. It totally is worth the price of the ticket.

1. Exam #2 done *phew* now if only I didn't have another three to go one of which in a week... but whatever, I'll manage.

2. Meanwhile I'm taking tomorrow off. And finally catching up with fic, I hope.

3. That said, you know why Steve Earle is one of the most awesome beings on this planet? Because while I'm sure that his sales in this country are nil (or at least not far from that since regularly you can find just his first record and a greatest hits), he still tours here. Two dates for the new tour! And one is in Rome, still low price venue, and one that you can actually reach without taking a taxi! I'm so there, fuck yes. How awesome can he be? ♥

4. Shitload of memes because I need to distract myself, lol. This one tagged by [livejournal.com profile] velvetprose.

7. Misha Collins' awesomeness is without-any-fucking-limit. And I don't think I've ever fangirled so badly someone as crazy, but that's just too good of a thing really. I mean. Maybe I shouldn't want to know how he actually did it, but I trust the shining force of his awesomeness.

8. I think I'm really done for now. I'll be answering comments and then I'll probably crash somewhere. *waves*

1. European elections in two days. And I don't even know who the hell are the candidates except for one. Also, I'll probably go voting with my head again and I probably will want to vent come Monday. Blah. If I think about how excited I was about voting when I still couldn't vote I feel like crap. :/

2. But, yesterday I went and just took my way-too-old copy of Norton antivirus out of the computer (I have another one anyway) and... er. It hadn't been so fast in... one year or so. It's way faster, it doesn't crash as much as before and it didn't take ten minutes to load, this morning. Duh. Had I known it before I'd have taken it off six months ago.

3. third vampire diaries trailer under the cut! )

4. I finished Anansi Boys, which only confirmed my opinion that Neil Gaiman is too awesome for this world. Except that I think that I've read everything he has written except Stardust which I probably will skip because it's just not my thing. But still. This one was awesome.

5. I stand of my opinion. Everyone says that Heidegger is the greatest philosopher of this century because no-one ever understood a thing of what he meant except maybe Heidegger himself.

6. I finally managed to listen to Steve Earle's latest record and OMG!! ♥ Fine, it's all covers and I need to find the originals but OMG! It's SO good!! *draws hearts*

7. So, I should probably go buying groceries. Then go studying whatever Kant has to do with history of medicine. And then post fic from one of those two kink memes sometime this afternoon. Which means I'll be off after this incredibly interesting entry.

8. But, I'll leave you with this awesome thing that popped up some Bruce community last day.

Robert De Niro stole his famous "You talkin' to me?" Taxi Driver movie line from rock legend Bruce Springsteen. The line, which De Niro's character recites to himself in the 1976 Martin Scorsese movie, has become one of the most famous movie quotes of all time.

And the acting legend has confessed it was inspired by a trip to a Springsteen concert, while he was preparing for the role.
De Niro made the admission to Springsteen's bandmate Clarence Clemons - who coached the actor to play the saxophone for movie New York, New York. Clemons tells the New York Daily News, "(He) had been to one of our concerts and the audience was yelling out 'Bruce!' In those days, Bruce would stop onstage and say, 'You talkin' to me?' "De Niro was kind of channeling him."

I mean, it's not like Bruce didn't have an already divinity-like status with me, but this? I mean. ♥

3. So, I spend April without being able to write a thing and when do I start getting ideas again? When my exams start next week. Ah well, it's not like I don't have stuff to re-post *hides*.

4. Half-book recs, two books, both by Michael Chabon. )

5. I can't find Steve Earle's last record to buy anywhere. Why am I not surprised?

6. Tomorrow I'm so, so catching up though. I have at least six tabs with fic opened. I'll give myself a reward from logic I guess, and thankfully next week I have just two classes and then I'll be half-done.

7. The more I think about the European elections (and politics in general) the more I want to crawl into a fandom-filled bunker where ponies charge my computer and get out of it four years from now. The day the switch in my head flips and I decide who the hell I should vote for you'll probably hear me in trans-continental relief. To think that two years ago I'd have been excited about it.

8. Since I haven't inflicted my random music uploads in a while... music meme! From [livejournal.com profile] lasamy and at least four other people, can't recall who. ;)

12 random songs )

9. And since I can't seem to be able to make this entry constructive, new Vampire Diaries trailer just for the kicks. The trailer makes it look way less lame than the preview, which just makes me confused even if I don't give a damn about the lame. But, His Prettiness has a couple of lines which weren't in the preview which are seriously worthy of flailing. And with this wonderful thing, I hope that you all have a good evening, you who are in saner time zones. ♥

1. So today I was at this record store and they had more or less near each other Chinese Democracy and The Songs of Pete Seeger vol II featuring a cover by Steve Earle. Guess what I bought, same price?

2. And then there's the mini bio inside and they say that determined to be his own man, Steve Earle has walked through his personal and professional fire and emerged as a fearlessly independent musician and human being. Seriously, that's awesome. Apart from the fact that is true, but still. I love Steve Earle. I seriously do. And that record is all kinds of awesome.

blathering of the Lucinda Williams, Nanowrimo and Supernatural kind + ficcing poll because I need stuff to write in pauses from lectures and I'm undecided. )

Alright, vacation with friends is over and I'm alone in the city again, with a heat that raised up at least three grades in the last week. *sigh* Right, it's August and I'm in Italy and it happens every time, so I should be expecting that and I was but argh, it's becoming unbearable this round. I just hope it cools off a bit soon.

upcoming vacation, luau catching up is hard, I buy too many cds, the dark knight VERY late impressions and uhm, maybe something else. )

Did I say I was going to make a related post? Well, I'm making a related post. Under the cut you shall find all of my SE favorite stuff. Which means quite some music.

So here you get my kind of not objective review of Steve Earle's concert yesterday evening. Pics, a sort of video, much blathering.

low price venues own, especially when you're in first line )
