janie_tangerine: (supernatural dean 4.0)
1) First: happy birthday [livejournal.com profile] cassiopeia7! :DDD I hope you're having an awesome day, that you get a lot of books for gifts none of which by Jane Austen and that you get spoiled with as much cake as you'd like ♥

2) Then: there are two tv-related things I'll talk about in this post. Vampire porn: okay listen this season doesn't seem like the epitome of coherent plot to me, but the Originals-related spin-off made it look like old school HBO in comparison. I'm not even going to bother with spoiler cutting, but I've never seen anything more ridiculous in my entire life. Okay, Ringer was probably as bad if not worse in certain points, but hahahahaha no. Considering that I really don't care about Klaus regardless I'm... not watching it. Nope. Sticking with the good old vampire porn, thanks.

3) Thankfully Supernatural was the total opposite instead (meaning, I loved the shit out of it).

spoilers )

4) Also, a meme from the aforementioned birthday girl in point one. :D

Basically, you give someone an age and they fill out the meme for where they were and what they were doing. If you want to join in, comment and give me a ballpark figure for how old you are now, or a decade of your life for me to choose from, and I will select an age for you. She gave me 17. :)

here - THE EXCITEEMEEENT )

5. Also: Patti Smith might be going towards seventy but you totally don't notice it. No seriously if when I'm her age I'm 5% as cool as she is I'll take it. (Yes, I went to concert number six. I think she's officially the person I've seen live most. <3)

Related to that: when I went to buy the tickets, I also ran into a horde of Justin Bieber fans. It was... uuuh. An interesting experience. details here )

6) I've also seen IM3! :D even if I still haven't seen the second. I'm a horrible fan. Whatever. No spoilers because seriously I watch those movies mostly for fun and I don't really have anything deep to say, but it was a good movie, I had a lot of fun, at least I caught it in English and the post-credits scene completely killed me in all the good ways. Anyone who's seen it knows what I mean. And if you know how I tick then you probably guessed why I've been all like THE POST-CREDITS SCENE since yesterday. Also if someone had told me that I'd go watch RDJ being Iron Man when I was dying over him when he was in Ally McBeal I'm not sure I'd have bought it, but it's all good. NOW SOMEONE PLEASE GIVE ME THE CAPTAIN AMERICA SEQUEL THANK YOU I need that certain character back in my life.

7) Steve Earle's new record is beyond excellent. <3 Yes, this deserved a point for itself.

8) Also, I bought cookie stamps and I made Stark and Tully cookies. I figured I'd share because I'm very pleased with the result xD

Also, Alfie Allen needs to stop being fucking adorable and making me die over his stupid face. There, I said it.

9) Aaand that's all I have for now. I'll probably go crash before I look at the clock and realize that it's 2 AM again. (The joys of never going to bed at reasonable times...)
janie_tangerine: (going down with my ship)
1 . Happy Easter everyone! :D I hope you’re all hoarding the chocolate I’m not ;) aaand happy GOT day to everyone who actually watches it today – may you all survive it.

2. So, since (as usual) I haven’t updated as much as I thought I would, run-down of what’s been happening here: I solved one problem I was having for the last final I was supposed to have, so it’s three left now and then it’s just the thesis (which hopefully will make me enthusiastic again about this whole school deal because right now I’m just burned out) \o/ also, I thought the elections mess couldn’t get any worse, but apparently it is! And we might vote again this year! And I can bet you money I won’t like the result, since my last illusions that people vote with their heads in this country has been totally shattered. Anyway, welcome to the only country in the world where you stay in charge even if you lose the elections and when I can’t even be pissed about it because the alternatives are all worse. Oh, and B. wants to be President of the Republic. If you’re laughing at that, it’s exactly what you should do.

Also, Mumford and Sons were glorious :DDD which is pretty much the best thing that happened in the last month.

Meanwhile, I’m currently at my grandparents’ for the holidays, using the internet stealthily and wondering if my grandmother will ever understand that no one ever said that it’s your duty to make your own life miserable.

3. Also, since I’m set on getting back on track and starting doing episode reviews again from next week (at least for GOT and SPN, since I’m not sure I have enough shit to say about the vampire porn to do an entire post each episode) I’m catching up with some quick reactions to the last stuff here, so next week I can start anew. ;)

So, vampire porn: spoilers )

SPN: spoilers )

4. Since we were discussing tv: I’m going to (try to) do GOT recap posts this year DECENTLY, also because I promised [livejournal.com profile] lenina20 that I would warn her beforehand (<3). I’m not sure of when I’ll manage to watch the premiere because here the internet is random and I can’t be on it if anyone calls on the phone, which means that it’s gonna take me ages to download it, but at worst it should be tomorrow evening, so the review will happen either late tomorrow or early on the 2nd, unless I manage to watch it in the morning for some kind of miracle. That said: I’m pretty sure that everyone around here knows the deal, but since I spent the last month blocking idiots on tumblr arguing that Theon deserves horrible things, I’ll just state again that Theon bashing is nowhere near okay around these parts. Also, I’ll probably endlessly complain about Robb’s storyline this year because the few things I know aren’t making me happy, so uhm, just thread carefully because I’ll probably go heavy on that. xD

5. Also: anyone has switched to the new friends page? Is it as horrible as it seems from the description? Because I already miss the old update page, and since it hasn’t forces me to switch to the new friends page yet I’m delaying, but I’d like to hear some opinions before considering it. Not sure I’ll do it until they force me though.

6. And after this Easter novel, I should probably go get ready for lunch (and after that hopefully I’ll finish an 8x17 coda which has been nagging at me since I watched the damn thing but that I couldn’t start until yesterday…) Again, I hope you’re all drowning in chocolate :D (and expect some late comments because as stated since anytime someone calls on the landline I have to disconnect the internet I gave up on checking the friends page, but tomorrow I shall catch up. :D)
janie_tangerine: (the vampire porn damon/alaric phone)
1. HI WORLD. Ugh, I'm totally sucking at updating lately but now that I've settled a couple of things I should be around more. Hopefully.

2. So, RL stuff, with updates on How Public University Works In This Country for anyone who's been hearing me bitching about it for the last six years - at least it's partially good news. here! )

3. Yesterday I went to a graduation party that was also held in a disco. I kind of ended up running after two hours even if I'm pretty sure everyone else stayed until five AM, but apparently disco music, more than five hundred people in the same space, inability to dance and inability to do conversation are too much. /o\ Meh. I'm not sure I'll ever get the appeal.

4. Our usual relatively spoiler-less TV roundup - one day I'll go back to full reviews posts...

a) H50: still not back at S1 glory, not as bad as it can get. And now also accepting former SPN and vampire porn people! Even if imo Julie McNiven was absolutely wasted in that episode she was in.

b) Boardwalk Empire: too little Chalky and not enough Richard for my tastes, but I liked the developments with Richard in the last episode aired. If the veteran's daughter is his supposed love interest this season I'll be totally fine with it - she looks cool. For some reason, Van Alden is apparently my third-favorite character now - what the hell, right? Also someone please tell me that what happened in the last episode I've seen him fucks him over because I just want him and Swedish Babysitter Now Turned Wife to be happy, k? Margaret is better than last season. Nucky needs to wake up and be more interesting again. Owen keeps on saying absolutely nothing to me. Gillian needs to go away. Okay, I suppose it's all.

c) Vampire porn, which I realize I haven't posted about in ages: it's back! YES! AND I LOVE IT! I love everything. I love how they're dealing with vampire!Elena, for some reason I apparently like Klaus a lot more this season - wtf. I'm extremely glad that Tyler didn't in fact die. Bonnie needs more appreciation. Not sure about the new people but I don't dislike them. Also the hunter makes this-season-Winchesters seem like humanitarians. Damon is *glorious* this season, period. I <3 Damon okay. Also as everyone imagined that scene with Damon on Ric's grave and ALARIC BEING THERE AND BEING LIKE 'I MISS YOU TOO' = I DIED. DIED. THE WHOLE THING WITH DAMON KEEPING RIC'S SEAT EMPTY WASN'T ENOUGH - THEY HAD TO DO THAT I CANNOT SJDHSAJDJH MY POOR SHIP. Just - ugh. It makes me cry in every possible way. THOSE TWO, WHY DID THEY NEED TO TAKE RIC FROM DAMON DAMMIT DDDDDD: *weepfest* anyway nothing is going to beat that scene this season for a long time I foresee. Also is it normal that I want Damon and Meredith to have 'I miss Alaric so much' sex? Yes? No? I give up. Also Caroline is still the best and seriously, this stupid vampire show is still the thing I enjoy most without reserve. Whatever. Go them. Oh, also, finally Matt has a storyline. More or less. We all appreciate.

d) SPN: 8x03 was mostly good, nothing to say about it either way except that Sam's behavior seems kind of odd to me. Or at least written oddly - I mean, I can't believe no one ever bought him a birthday cake. Or that he'd talk about having a normal life as if he *never* did try it in the first place - idk, probably it was some writing issue and they went about it wrong but it left me very perplexed. 8x04 was imo very good - it took a bit to get into the style of it and tbh seriously, do people ever STUDY when they're at campuses in these shows, but I really really like the outsider perspective and that they decided to give the monster a chance at the end - considering that lately they're all gung-ho about killing hosts and whatever it was a nice change. And that said, seriously, Sam and Dean appeared for probably like five minutes in the entire thing but when at the end Dean had that dejected face while he asked 'do I really say awesome that much?' I think someone punched my heart or something. Just - HOW DO YOU DO IT WITH ONE LINE SERIOUSLY. Other than that: Sam's hair keeps on being a mystery - I'm pretty sure that it's possessed since it CHANGES FROM FRAME TO FRAME, IT CAN'T BE POSSIBLE - and the office romance line was kind of hilarious. Lol. Unknowing wincest shippers much? Anyway, neither episode was on par with the first two, but they weren't bad whatsoever.

e) Kings, which I finished sometime last week: I'd just like to state that whoever canceled this after one season was a criminal. CRIMINAL. YOU DON'T CANCEL THIS KIND OF BRILLIANCE. I loved everything about it. The whole biblical retelling was overall genius, the acting was out of this world (seriously IAN MCSHANE SERIOUSLY WHY CAN'T THEY EVER MAKE A SHOW WITH THE GUY THAT ACTUALLY FINISHES ITS RUN) and Jack was totally my favorite (... considering that he was pretty much the Theon of the situation except with some more PR skills and more luck in taking horrible decisions that's probably not a surprise - also I mean, Sebastian Stan *dies*) and everything was done so well and clearly THEY DIDN'T EVEN GET TO THE POINT WHERE DAVID BECOMES KING UGH seriously *why*. The fact that my Bible reading was recent probably is influencing my opinions but seriously everything about that show was made of win. Except that it isn't longer. DDDDDD: why do networks always cancel smart shows/stuff I like? Meh.

f) I started Treme. I'm nowhere near far enough in it to do serious reviews, but it's *awesome*. And I appreciate all the music I'm discovering thanks to it. Also all the people from The Wire in the cast are automatically a win. (And Kim Dickens! I missed her face!). I'll probably have more in-depth reactions when I finish S1.

5) Telegraph Avenue is gorgeous. Even if Chabon needs to stop torturing me with bittersweet endings okay, I cannot. Anyway, I'm not going into spoilers here - if I manage to do a goodreads review I'll do it there - but while it still wasn't quite as good as Kavalier & Clay it still was a darned gorgeous book. Also: dear Michael, on behalf of poor ESL people who tend to write in run-on sentences and do-not-get why the English language hates them so much, THANK YOU. Because a guy who manages to publish a book where there's a 12 pages long POV of a parrot which is.. well, twelve-pages of one run-on sentence that actually makes sense, has all my admiration. Seriously, I think that when I was done with that part I spent about five minutes with my eyes like this -> O______O. And now I'll have to wait another five years before he puts out another novel, knowing his timing - sigh. I just want to marry that man's sentences.

6) Aaand for a last thing, completely OT from that: this is the best Robb/Theon meta you'll ever read. Actually I'd say also the best meta on Robb *and* Theon singularly since it says stuff about the characters not necessarily taking the relationship into consideration all the time. Seriously, I think finding the link to this has given meaning to the fact that I actually use tumblr at all and I feel obliged to link it around. It's some flawless meta. Period. And with this I'll go doing productive stuff, sort of.
